The joy of MMOs photo
The joy of MMOs
by Chris Carter

Read this list and let me know if it sounds like a good time.

Crunching numbers in the wee hours of the night to maximize damage output. Grinding out levels and letting auto-attack handle things for a few seconds while you play the air drums to Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight." Watching 10 different damage meters and battlelogs to see if everyone is running an efficient rotation.

Do these things sound like hell to you? To me, it's by and large why MMOs bring me joy that many other genres can't.

Allow me to explain why.

It's been said before that a "failed" Kickstarter isn't the end -- that every dollar matters even if the total amount raised ultimately falls short. That's true for Eden Industries' Citizens of Earth, a role-playing game whi...

Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano paints Child of Light art

I am endlessly excited for the old school JRPG-inspired Child of Light, which comes out April 30. PC and PlayStation (PS3/PS4 are Cross-Buy) players will also be able to buy a physical, deluxe edition of the game (currently only available for pre-order in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), which comes with DLC, artwork, and a poster of Yoshitaka Amano's work, shown in the neat video above.

Go on, take a peek at Persona Q's battle system

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth and it's autumn release are still a ways off, which means there's still plenty of time to do things like watch gameplay trailers. And as luck would have it, Atlus has shared some  tantalizing footage of the dungeon crawler's old-school battle system. Just a few more months...

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn plays like a dream on the PS4 photo
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn plays like a dream on the PS4
by Chris Carter

The time has finally come for the last phase of the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn PlayStation 4 beta, which will carry over all of its data into the final release -- a release that's set in stone for next week (April 11th for early access, the 14th for everyone else).

Naturally, I took this opportunity to get back into the game in anticipation last week after leaving my level 20 Lancer in the frozen void close to launch, and I can't stop playing. I've already made a ton of progress on the PC version, and I'm absolutely addicted to the PS4 port -- it's just that good.

Over 5 million people registered for the Elder Scrolls Online beta photo
Over 5 million people registered for the Elder Scrolls Online beta
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

The Elder Scrolls Online is officially available today for the masses on the PC and Mac. To celebrate, Bethesda has released another badass cinematic trailer, titled The Siege.

Along with this trailer comes a neat little infographic Bethesda put together. Highlights include that 5 million people registered for the ESO beta, there's over 40 million weapon variations, there's so many character variations that the number can't even fit on the infographic, and that it would take 32 hours to read the over 2,000 books in the game.

Wondering how ESO is? Check out our first 24 hours with the game, and check back frequently as we'll have ongoing coverage of the game up until we do the full on scored review.

Reaper of sales: Diablo III expansion has sold over 2.7 million

In its first week of availability, the first Diablo III expansion, Reaper of Souls, has reaped 2.7 million sales. Uhm. I mostly just wanted to write "Reaper of sales." I don't have anything else to say. Good job to Blizzard for responding to fan feedback with a $40 expansion that everyone went out and paid for, apparently. Path of Exile is free if you like click click click click games.

Child of Light is a return to classic JRPG wonder photo
Child of Light is a return to classic JRPG wonder
by Alessandro Fillari

Last year, the news of Ubisoft making an old-school throwback to the JRPG genre took a number of people by surprise. When Destructoid got the chance to check it out, there was a healthy amount of curiosity around it. Not too many people knew what to make of it, especially considering it was coming from the team that made Far Cry 3, which is a title that seems very far apart from it.

But after spending some time with Child of Light, about three hours to be exact, there might be more in common with these two titles than you think. I got the chance to talk with lead writer Jeffrey Yohalem, and saw what passion and a small team working on a unique throwback to JRPG titles managed to come up with.
