This fish is playing Pokémon very slowly, and a lot of people are watching

Twitch has a thing for playing Pokémon. Typically, it's a crowdsourced game with tens of thousands of players all helping input controls. Some college kids recently scaled that back and are trying to accomplish the sa...

Claim your Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon in Pokémon X/Y while you can

I didn't get into collecting all of the uniquely-patterned Vivillons in Pokemon X/Y but I did quite like that one with the Poké Ball design that was given out earlier this year in France. (And I don't think it was a si...

If Pokémon were a F2P mobile game, it might look something like this

This mock-up of what Pokémon would be like as a free-to-play mobile game has surfaced on reddit and is eerily reminiscent of several of the more widely panned F2P games in recent memory. It makes me sad to think of all...

Ash Ketchum calls into a Christian talk show with his Team Rocket woes

According to Bulbapedia, there are 95 flying-type Pokémon, but the likes of Articuno and Zapdos don't stand a chance of flying as far over these ladies' heads as the joke did.

Pinsir and Heracross are part of the next Pokémon distribution event photo
Pinsir and Heracross are part of the next Pokémon distribution event
by Jordan Devore

The next Pokémon distribution event isn't terribly exciting. From August 13 through September 17, Pokémon X players can get Heracross and Y players can get Pinsir through the Internet.

More importantly, GameStop will offer code unlocks in the US for the Mega Stones needed to Mega Evolve Heracross and Pinsir. Those will first be available August 18 while supplies last.

These Pokémon are normally version exclusives, but that doesn't mean much now that the series has become online-enabled and trading is easier than ever. That said, I am glad the powers that be are planning to give out the Heracronite and Pinsirite Mega Stones.

All of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire's gym leaders have giant eyes now

The one thing that irked me about Pokemon X and Y was the 2D art, which seemed to shy away from the series' trademark look to a more homogenized anime blob style. Brawly's re-design has to be the worst. He wears those creepy toe shoes.  Compare for yourself below.

I'm pumped to dress up Pikachu like a little fancy man photo
I'm pumped to dress up Pikachu like a little fancy man
by Max Scoville

One of my favorite parts of Pokémon Black & White was the ability to haze your magical pets by dressing them up and having them perform musical theatre, so putting Pikachu in drag in Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby sounds awesome to me. If you want to watch the full Pokémon trailer in all its awkwardly-paced Nintendo-approved sterile family-friendly glory, here it is.
