PSA: Pandora's Tower has a game-freezing bug

[Editor's note: I used an NTSC copy of Pandora's Tower on a launch Wii unit. As I mention further down, it's very likely that this bug won't affect everybody. I merely want to play it safe and alert those people who will run ...

With the US release of Pandora's Tower, the final title in the "Operation Rainfall" trilogy has been localized. Major props to XSEED for taking a chance at giving the Wii one last hurrah!

Pandora's Tower is an action role-playing game that takes a few mechanical and thematic cues from other notable titles, such as Monster Hunter and Shadow of the Colossus. There's even a dash of dating sim! The resulting brew is a little rough around the edges, but this adventurous tale of star-crossed lovers deserves to be played through to the end.

Neither a massive AAA extravaganza nor a quickly churned software side dish, Pandora's Tower sits comfortably in the middle ground. And if there is anything that the Wii could have used more of, it's chunky "middles" like this.

New releases: The Knife of Dunwall blinks into existence photo
New releases: The Knife of Dunwall blinks into existence
by Fraser Brown

After a couple of lackluster weeks of new releases, we're spoiled for choice this week. A plethora of games drop, begging for your attention. Time to blow more money.

At the top of the list, for me, is the latest piece of Dishonored DLC, The Knife of Dunwall. Daud, the DLC's protagonist, only appeared in the main game briefly, but he has a central role in the story of Corvo's set-up. I'm really looking forward to seeing Dunwall through his eyes, and learning more about the enigmatic assassin.

Also arriving this week is the DC fighter, Injustice: Gods Among Us, where a bald man in a mechanical suit can beat up Superman; Pandora's Tower finally gets a US release, long after the rest of us have been able to enjoy it; Star Wars: The Old Republic gets a new premium expansion in the form of Rise of the Hutt Cartel; the new Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner game, Soul Hackers, launches on the 3DS; and the wonderful but tragic Papo & Yo gets a PC port. All this and more comes out this week.

So, what are you grabbing?

The Jimquisition: Nintendo of America

Impotent nerd rage from random people on the Internet always gets things done, so I guarantee that my latest Jimquisition will single-handedly convince Nintendo of America to release Xenoblade, The Last Story and Pandora's Tower in North America.  Meanwhile, you could always add your name to the Operation Rainfall movement and see if that does anything.
