Enslaved is only $5 on Steam and you should play it

Enslaved is a really good game that no one bought. This led to Ninja Theory having to go mercenary and make DmC, which I liked, but a lot of people hated. Clearly the answer is this: give Ninja Theory money so 1) I get t...

Ninja Theory made its Hellblade reveal trailer in eight weeks

I almost skipped over this Hellblade developer's diary. Maybe it's a default reaction to games with "hell" (or "blade?" both?) in the title. Forgot this was from Ninja Theory and that, as an enormous fan of Enslaved, I ...

Hellblade is the new game from Ninja Theory

Yay! A new game from Ninja Theory that's been straddled with one of the most unimaginative names I can remember. Hellblade? Sure, there's not been a game called that already? No release date so far but it will be a console exclusive on PS4.

Review: Fightback photo
Review: Fightback
by Chris Carter

Ninja Theory is one of the most interesting developers in the business. They have the opportunity to develop high-budget, low-grossing games more often than pretty much any other studio in existence -- then move on to another publisher to try their luck, where almost any other studio would have gone bankrupt.

But still, they persevere, and somehow, someway, they always come back for more. So how do they fare with a mobile free-to-play energy-filled freemium brawler?

Report: Ninja Theory may shift to mobile development

[Update: A representative at Ninja Theory has denied these claims, stating that they are open to mobile and console development. It appears as if Tameem was mouthing off. Again. Someone really needs to implement a "no talking...

Blue haired girl: Ninja Theory teases next gen game? photo
Blue haired girl: Ninja Theory teases next gen game?
by Steven Hansen

Ninja Theory, developer of the recent, divisive DmC: Devil May Cry, has a new trailer up on its website that chronicles its work during this soon to be recent generation. Spliced in is also a more mysterious project featuring a blue haired woman, which could be a glimpse of whatever new IP the developer is working on for next generation. The video ends with a "thanks for a kickass generation" note, which seems to imply, along with the rapidly approaching PS4 and Xbox One launch dates, that the unknown project is indeed for next gen.

The video serves as a nice remembrance for what the studio has worked on this console generation, with a small, sad counterpoint. Each montage features a Metacritic score awarded to the title in question. It is, I suppose, nice to track what can be seen as improvement, but it's a sad reminder of things like Metacritic-based worker bonuses. This is in turn a sad reminder of how poorly Enslaved: Odyssey to the West seems to have sold because it's a phenomenal game featuring some of the best writing, as well as acting, of the generation.

Still, all seems well. DmC: Devil May Cry is in the can, much to the chagrin of many of you -- personally, I dig the game for its gorgeous, Gravity Rush-styled aesthetic alone -- and Ninja Theory seems to be back to creating new IPs. Warm's the heart. Now comes the painful wait for something that can hopefully surpass Enslaved. Seriously, that game is fantastic, go buy a damn copy.
