PAX: Ms. Splosion Man runs at 60fps on the iPad photo
PAX: Ms. Splosion Man runs at 60fps on the iPad
by Chris Carter

Today I had a chance to meet up with Twisted Pixel developer Mike Wilford, and talk a bit about the new iOS port of Ms. Splosion Man, including some hands-on time with the game.

Mike started by stating that on current iPads, the port will run at a solid 60fps, which I was able to see first-hand (the iPhone 5 version will run a little slower, on par with 45-50 fps, I was told). All things considered, this version looks better than the XBLA original, which ran at a slower rate.

You'll be able to control the action through two virtual direction buttons -- left and right, as well as 'sploding (ie jumping) by tapping anywhere on the right hand side of the screen. Since the game is part rhythm oriented anyways, tapping in time with some of the trickier jumps felt pretty natural, and extremely fun on a touch screen.

E3: Retro City Rampage in my hands! My dreams came true!

Ms. Splosion Man gets another challenge level tomorrow photo
Ms. Splosion Man gets another challenge level tomorrow
by Jordan Devore

Twisted Pixel Games' third challenge for Ms. Splosion Man will run from February 14 - 27. Better fit this one into your Valentine's Day schedule. If you're not familiar, these challenges bring new, free levels that are accessible for a limited time from the game's main menu.

In this specific course, there are 33 panes of glass, which is important to know; each one missed adds ten seconds to your finish time. The five quickest U.S. players to complete the challenge will win an Omaha Steak Filet prize pack. So yeah, this is clearly important stuff. I'd better start training.

Pinball FX2's next pinball table is based on Twisted Pixel's Ms. Splosion Man and it's set to come out on August 31 for the Xbox 360. The collaboration between Zen Studios and Twisted Pixel sees Splosin Man and Ms. Splosion Man 'sploding it up in pinball form. Best of all, the pinball table will only be 240 Microsoft Points.

The table also sees Mr. Destructoid staring right into your cursed soul. It's awesome. The eyes light up and Destructoid's mouth even opens up. You can catch a glimpse of all the action in the debut trailer.

BONUS! The new Ms. Splosion Man pinball table will be playable at PAX this weekend! Just head over to the Microsoft booth to get hands on with the game.

New Destructoid Episode: The Origin of Ms. 'Splosion Row photo
New Destructoid Episode: The Origin of Ms. 'Splosion Row
by Max Scoville

Hey! You! We got some news about video games. Pay attention!

First, it looks like Battlefield 3 won't be on Steam, and the special edition of Mass Effect 3 has robot dogs or something. The Riddler makes his big debut, sort of, in Batman: Arkham City. Cliffy B has an opinion about that new Nintendo thing. Ms. Splosion Man is easily worth your ten bucks, and it's out on Wednesday. Dead Island is probably worth pre-ordering, but not on Amazon if you like cool bonus things. Saints Row The Third is definitely worth pre-ordering because you'll get an octopus gun.

Finally, the fine folks over at CM4 were good enough to send over a few of their Catalyst 3DS cases, and we'll happily give them away. Just make a picture (drawing, Photoshop, oil painting, whatever) of the worst possible way a 3DS could get destroyed and send it to show@destructoid.com. Go nuts. Be sure to include your name/address. You've got until this Sunday night at midnight (PST) to submit, and we'll announce the winners on Monday's show.
