Hands-on: MotorStorm: Apocalypse photo
Hands-on: MotorStorm: Apocalypse
by Max Scoville

When I first saw MotorStorm: Pacific Rift a couple years ago, I rolled my eyes. At a glance, it looked like one of those super-fast racing-inspired games for loud children. While I wasn’t terribly wrong with that assessment, it quickly became one of my favorite racing games.

Last week, I got to play MotorStorm: Apocalypse. I’d seen the trailer a while back, and I was pretty impressed with the idea of racing monster trucks through a post-apocalyptic wasteland. But did it explode my brain off with its awesomeness?

MotorStorm Apocalypse release dates announced photo
MotorStorm Apocalypse release dates announced
by Conrad Zimmerman

There's a lot of folks excited to get their hands on the next installment of the MotorStorm series. In a post on a PlayStation Blog, a firm release date has been set for the title, MotorStorm Apocalypse, which will see release in Europe on March 16th while North America will have to wait until April 12th. They've also posted images of the box art.

Nick is very keen on this one, I know. I don't think I've ever actually played a MotorStorm game and know almost nothing about them. It looks fast and fun but my racing skills are limited to the arcade variety (and barely that). I used to love Burnout, but the open-world nature of Paradise soured me as I like that quick-fix of action you more easily attain through a menu.

Do you think maybe MotorStorm could serve as a good replacement for me?

MotorStorm: 3D Rift revealed, coming out tomorrow

Usually when games "leak out" from the ESRB, we're forced to sit around clueless for a few weeks or, many times, a heck of a lot longer than that. The turnaround for MotorStorm: 3D Rift has been decidedly faster. Over on the ...

E3 10: MotorStorm Apocalypse looks gross, in a good way

The new direction Evolution Studios is taking MotorStorm Apocalypse in -- to me, as a casual observer, anyway -- seems to be bizarre, but totally smart. With a newfound adoration for things blowing up everywhere in racing ga...

Pre-E3: MotorStorm Apocalypse announced

To no surprise, Sony has announced MotorStorm Apocalypse for the PlayStation 3. But don't call it "post-apocalyptic"; the game will take place during the apocalypse, with pieces of the city -- inspired by the West Coast, and ...
