Mirror's Edge meets Jet Set Radio in Hover

The melding of those two beloved properties was enough for me to get interested in Hover: Revolt of Games, and then its developers went and cited The Fifth Element as yet another inspiration. For as much junk as there is on ...

Rhianna Pratchett is not involved with Mirror's Edge 2

When Mirror's Edge 2 was announced I was floored, because the original is one of my favorite games of all time. Why? Because I felt like it was a puzzle game first and foremost, and that the Time Trials were the hea...

EA taking risks on things like Star Wars, other new IP

Electronic Arts is a risk taker. A boundary pusher. Indeed, EA Games chief Patrick Soderlund, speaking to MCV, apparently, "points to Star Wars and Mirror’s Edge 2 as proof the firm is still willing to take risks on ne...

This Mirror's Edge parkour video makes me dizzy

After I played Mirror's Edge for the first time earlier this year, I was really happy to hear the announcement of a new title for next-gen consoles. Seems I wasn't the only one, as parkour video group Ampisound was inspired ...

Mirror's Edge 2 too much of a 'next-gen idea' for 360/PS3

There are a fair few games that will be released on both current- and next-gen consoles, but Mirror's Edge 2 won't be among them. EA Games Label executive VP Patrick Söderlund tells Polygon that "It just happened to be a...

Here's everything that happened at the EA E3 conference photo
Here's everything that happened at the EA E3 conference
by Chris Carter

EA brought a few new reveals with them today at their E3 conference, alongside of some cringe-worthy sports presentations. To help offset the incredibly awkward "I'll punch you" Dana White UFC speech, Mirror's Edge 2, a new Star Wars: Battlefront (yes!) and Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare were announced, as were Peggle 2, and the first footage of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

It looks like pretty much everyone has something to look forward to here, given that most of these are thankfully Xbox One and PlayStation 4 releases. Personally, I'm looking forward to Mirror's Edge 2 the most, as the original was one of my favorite, yet flawed games of all time.

Mirror's Edge 2 announced (Update: it's a reboot) photo
Mirror's Edge 2 announced (Update: it's a reboot)
by Jim Sterling

[Update: This new Mirror's Edge will not be sequel, but a reboot. It'll re-tell Faith's origin and ... sigh. It's also coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.]

Yep, EA DICE confirmed it. It's happening. Finally confirmed. It looks like Mirror's Edge.

I mean ... do we need to say anything else?

[Editor's Note: Told you! We have some possible details on the game here.]

Possible Mirror's Edge 2 details photo
Possible Mirror's Edge 2 details
by Dale North

We won't say where these character details come from. But we're pretty sure they're from an upcoming EA game, Mirror's Edge 2. And if they're not, they're from a big franchise game from the same publisher.

The details we have touch on a technology group called the Developers. There's some kind of struggle going on against the Enforcers. Details also hint at things like space stations and space ships, so we could be looking looking at a futuristic story here.

As for the characters, we have profiles on four different ones, each with some kind of combat ability. Maybe we'll be seeing a four-player game? The character Asia is…well, Asian. She's an American in her 20's. She's cocky, competitive, thrill-seeking, and acrobatic. Of course, she'll handle firearms and will be skilled at martial arts. Sounds like a proper heroine, right?

A younger character, Zack, is a street-smart skater kid that knows how to take care of himself, a graffiti artist. He's sort of a younger brother to Asia.  Melanie is older -- age 45 or so. She's proud and smart. She used to work for a group called the Developers on some technology, but she left after being disappointed with her work, and now lives as a small-time hacker.

Finally, Vince is also in his 40's, and might be mixed race. He's a cool guy, a hacker, is acrobatic, and can use firearms.
