Life-sized papercraft Mass Effect characters creep me out

Papercraft is cool. Giant, human-sized papercraft, on the other hand, gives me the heebie-jeebies. That said, DeviantArt member Tankball has crafted two eerily realistic papercraft recreations of Mass Effect 3 characters...

Review: Mass Effect 3 Citadel photo
Review: Mass Effect 3 Citadel
by Daniel Starkey

It’s been a while—over seven years, in fact—since Mass Effect was first announced. At the time, it was being pitched as a classic 1970s sci-fi flick that you could play. Your decisions, they said, would have dramatic effects on the final outcome, and your progress would transfer between games—a pretty unique concept at the time.

Now, the degree to which the series lived up to its very lofty goals is very much up for debate, but with Citadel we’ll see the alleged end of the narrative portion of the trilogy. Regardless of how you feel about the combat or the ending to ME3, the multiplayer additions or whatever else – it has become one of the most talked-about series ever. I think they’ve added something worthy of that original vision.

Prepare for Mass Effect 3: Citadel with a launch trailer

New releases: Construction finishes on SimCity photo
New releases: Construction finishes on SimCity
by Fraser Brown

This Monday heralds a week of mayoral responsibilities and the raiding of trap-laden tombs, both of which undoubtedly require similar skill sets. As much as I'm a big fan of Ms. Croft, and it seems like her latest outing is one of her best, I'm a tad more taken with managing a crazy little city.

I'll admit that I'm still not completely sold on SimCity, however. It certainly looks lovely, but I miss my water pipes and gargantuan utopias, and so many of the design choices seem to be aimed at people who are social butterflies, when I'm more of a grumpy moth. Regardless, I'm still rather excited about its imminent release, and will be doing my best to ensure that Beardtopia is the grottiest, most unfriendly city in all the land.

On top of SimCity and Tomb Raider, there are a plethora of other new releases demanding your attention this week. Two Naruto Shippunden titles drop, saturating the colorful, super-powered ninja market; Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk gives budding herbalists something to do on the PS3, while also searching for their lost sister; The Showdown Effect jumps out of a burning building and punches a vaguely German sounding villain in the face; and the 3DS gets a new Castlevania: Lords of Shadow title

You lot are getting spoiled this week. What's tempting you the most?

New releases: Brutal Legend makes PCs metal photo
New releases: Brutal Legend makes PCs metal
by Fraser Brown

Monday has once again snuck up on us like an unfortunate rash you got from a really good weekend. Don't worry, there's cream for that! And much like a soothing medicinal balm, the new releases of the week are here to cure what ails you.

Brütal Legend finally drops on PC after years of being locked in console servitude, and despite its dodgy strategy portions, we should welcome it with open, heavily tattooed arms. The absolutely cracking soundtrack makes it more than worth a look, and the great voice acting, more than competent action, and art direction that will make your eyes bleed from heavy metal joy makes its failings a lot easier to swallow.

If metal hurts your delicate ears and Jack Black sends you into a blind rage, then there's still a bunch to look forward to this week. Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires adds some strategy to your hacking and slashing; fans of punishing dungeon crawlers and 3DS owners rejoice, Etrian Odyssey IV finally arrives in the US; Might & Magic Heroes VI gets a new expansion, Shades of Darkness; a curious looking RPG drops on PC in the form of Driftmoon; and Star Wars Pinball is a thing that actually looks pretty groovy.

What will you be using to soothe that nasty rash this week?
