Shelter 2 is a 'spiritual sequel' starring a new species

I liked Shelter as an out-there concept, but as a game, it just couldn't hold my attention. Might and Delight is ditching badgers for its "spiritual sequel," which instead revolves around a lynx mother attempting to raise he...

Escape Goat 2 released as Tim Schafer tries to take credit photo
Escape Goat 2 released as Tim Schafer tries to take credit
by Conrad Zimmerman

Are you ready to laugh? Double Fine has released this video to promote the launch of Escape Goat 2 today on Windows, Mac and Linux PCs, and I suspect it's the funniest thing I'm going to see today. Watch what happens when Tim Schafer mistakes the developers of Escape Goat 2, MagicalBeanTime, for burglars and unleashes some street justice before attempting to steal all the glory from their work.

As many good ones do, the joke arises out of reality. MagicalBeanTime completed the final weeks of development on Escape Goat 2 using a spare office at Double Fine headquarters.

Even if you don't give a whit about this really fun and strange puzzle-platform game, that's a damned funny ad. And if you do care, you can pick it up from Steam, Humble or GOG.com this week for 10% off the regular price of $9.99.

GOG.com adding Linux support this fall

GOG.com and Linux seem like a perfect couple but, last we heard, the digital distributor wasn't planning on supporting the operating system in the foreseeable future. Heck of an update on that front: Linux support is now plan...

Dungeon Keeper is free on GOG.com photo
Dungeon Keeper is free on GOG.com
by Jordan Devore

In light of the negative reactions to the new Dungeon Keeper for mobile, this is too perfect. GOG.com is offering the original game for free in a 48-hour promotion.

Unless you already own the Bullfrog classic, there's no reason to miss out on this deal. It seems many people are taking the site up on the offer -- requesting your copy currently gives the message "You'll get your game soon! Minion, due to high demand, we will tell you when your free copy of Dungeon Keeper is ready via email in a little bit."

GOG.com, you can be my valentine any time. Also, Dungeon Keeper 2 is on sale for $1.49.

[Thanks, Eduardo]

How nice: GOG.com adds 31 FLAC soundtracks

One of my favorite features of GOG.com is its inclusion of bonuses at no additional charge, particularly when it comes to the "good old games," which these days isn't the sole focus of the distributor. Extras can range from r...

GOG Winter sale launches with free classic Fallout titles photo
GOG Winter sale launches with free classic Fallout titles
by Alasdair Duncan

We're in mid-December and for me, that means two things: I'm pretty much broke as I've bought so many Christmas presents (you're welcome friends and family) and that there's going to be bargains galore as many online outlets start their winter sales. GOG.com, purveyor of classic and indie titles, has started its promotion and to celebrate, it will be giving away Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics for not a single penny, for the first 48 hours of the sale

Unfortunately, GOG.com won't be able to sell those first three Fallout titles after the end of 2013, so get your grubby mitts on them as fast as possible. In addition to lots of titles being reduced to half price, there will be daily deals and users will receive mystery boxes each day as well.

The sale runs until December 29 and I'm hoping to pick up Privateer 2, Alpha Centauri, and Outcast to add to my PC classics library. On a separate note, I'm also hoping to be able to afford food at the end of the month too.
