Now, it's a good one. In fact, I wrote about why it was our Game of the Show in that very post you just didn't click. But E3 was full of games like I'm full of curry. And Destructoid is an island of misfit toys sort of collection of miscreants, not a hive mind. So let's see what tickled everyone else's earlobes this year.
And, hey, now you can tell like 20 different people why they're wrong about games instead of just one!
Before there was Bloodborne, From Software's creepy new action-RPG, there was "Project Beast." You remember the leaked video, I'm sure -- here's another one.
Keep in mind, this footage is old; it's taken from an earlier build than what was shown off at E3 this week. So you'll want to excuse the frame rate, the visual fidelity, and other technical details. With all of that said, actual gameplay! Yes sir, we're going to be right at home with Bloodborne.
In case you haven't heard, DLC is coming to Dark Souls II. Three add-ons in fact! The first up is Crown of the Sunken King, set to drop on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on July 22nd.
To celebrate, Bandai Namco sent over some scre...
From Software's upcoming PS4 exclusive, Bloodborne, has some relation to the Souls series of games, but the death system may not end up working exactly the same.
In an E3 showing of the game, director Hidetaka Miyazaki ...
Bloodborne began all the way back in 2012, long before the PS4 was done. Sony approached From Software, asking them to create a title for their new platform. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of Dark Souls, began work right away.
Now Japan Studio and From Software are finally showing off what was one of the biggest surprises of E3 2014. We enjoyed a behind-closed-doors showing of what's sure to be one of the hardest and freakiest exclusive games for the platform.
Earlier today we got word of some juicy details for Bloodborne, From Software's Soul-like PS4 exclusive that's set to drop next year. Now we have actual confirmation of what the in-game engine looks like, and it's pretty incr...
"Project Beast" was unveiled last night as Bloodborne, a new action-RPG in development at Souls studio From Software exclusively for PlayStation 4.
The trailer hinted at a vibe that looks to be right in line with what series ...
Sony's always lovable Shuhei Yoshida walked on stage at Sony's E3 press conference to announce a brand-new IP developed by From Software called Bloodborne. Hidetaka Miyazaki is directing this creepy looking title that will hit PlayStation 4 in 2015.
Check out the incredible trailer for yourself above.
I haven't been keeping up with Dark Souls II speedruns. I should be. We got a tip in this weekend about Marksel's 21:25 world-record any% run, which has since been topped by Distortion2's 20:14 run, included above. Seems they've got a bit of a friendly rivalry going on right now.
How are these times feasible? Glitches. Bypassing the Shrine of Winter. Running above and below the environment. Binoculars, which inadvertently allow for absurd movement speeds.
I realize that any% runs aren't as interesting to some of you who prefer to see most if not all of a game's content bested, not skipped, and I tend to agree. All the same, watching people obliterate a game I've poured an ungodly amount of hours into is captivating and oddly satisfying.
Project Beast is the rumored PlayStation 4 project by From Software, the developers behind Dark Souls. Some images were supposedly leaked not too long ago, and now NeoGAF has found four short gameplay clips.
Is this actually...
Demon's Souls and Dark Souls creator/director Hidetaka Miyazaki has been promoted to president of From Software, reports Gamasutra. Which is excellent, maybe. Or maybe it's not. Between this and Kadokawa Corp. acquiring the c...
Bandai Namco has provided an update on the future of Dark Souls PC, which uses Games for Windows Live -- a service that's believed to be shutting down in July -- for its online play.
First, the game "will remain fully functio...
In the weeks leading up to E3, there have been some truly interesting leaks. Headlining that list is undoubtedly "Project Beast," rumored to be the working title for the next From Software game. The next (Demon's?) Souls. The return of series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki.
Please let this be real.
If you've seen the believable-looking images, feel free to join me in hoping this game pans out sooner than later -- that, should it be legitimate, we don't have to wait until Tokyo Game Show in September for an announcement. Having just recently cleared Dark Souls II and been somewhat underwhelmed by it, I've been thinking about why, and what I might want out of the next Souls title, Project Beast or otherwise. I'm sure you've thought about the topic before too. Let's talk it out.
Dark Souls II has been out for a few weeks on consoles, enough time for fans to really dig in, and now PC players have shown up in style. I'm liking the game -- less so than its predecessors, overall -- but still: when I'm no...
From Software, makers of Dark Souls and Armored Core, has just been snapped up by Japanese mega-publisher Kadokawa Corporation. They will be come a subsidiary of Kadokawa after the transfer of 80 percent of the company's shares takes place on May 21. Current holder Transcomos will gain the equivalent of $17 million for the sale of From Software.
Never head of 'em? I bet you have. Kadokawa Corporation is one of the biggest media companies in the east, with their hands in film, television, animation (all the Media Factory stuff), gaming, books, magazines (Famitsu, Dengeki, ASCII), and so much more. They handled Killer is Dead in Japan, and the game I'm playing right now, Demon Gaze, is also a Kadokawa Games release.
From Software is in good (and huge) hands.
According to Gematsu, Kadokawa Corp. hopes that the acquisition of From Software will help them expand in the games industry. Their studios will share expertise and resources to achieve this goal.
After providing general tips for getting a bit more out of Dark Souls II visually, renowned modder Durante has written another article for PC Gamer detailing his next major release. The DSfix creator has a new tool, GeDoSaTo,...
