The Hero Trap lets you play as a berserk luchador bear

"Lightning fast dungeon crawler" may seem like an oxymoron, but the trailer above for The Hero Trap shows what it means by that: frenetic action gameplay within an ever-changing combination of dungeon arenas. To be honest, I...

StarCrawlers is a sci-fi RPG and dungeon crawler

I know I've mentioned this before but sometime just a simple tweak to an existing formula is enough to get me interested in a new game. StarCrawlers is a sci-fi, dungeon-crawler RPG that's being developed by Juggernaut Games...

This week's impressive Kickstarter is Darkest Dungeon

I must've missed hearing about Darkest Dungeon originally as there's no way I would've seen that footage (embedded again above) and gone on with my day like nothing had happened. Now, months later, this turn-based dungeon cr...

Here's some tantalizing info on the Legend of Grimrock 2

Torchlight II is free on Steam this weekend photo
Torchlight II is free on Steam this weekend
by Chris Carter

Torchlight II is still chugging along, and this weekend, you can play it for free on Steam. Said free weekend starts now, and ends on Sunday at 1PM Pacific. I never really got all that into Torchlight II, but it's a really great game, and any dungeon crawler fan owes it to themselves to try it.

Give it a go this weekend, and if you enjoy it, at least grab it on a Steam sale -- you won't regret it. Like, you know, this sale this weekend, where it's 75% off.

Metal band Avenged Sevenfold is making a videogame

Well, I guess Avenged Sevenfold got the videogame itch after their ridiculous appearance in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Hail to the King: Deathbat is an upcoming band coming from the heavy metal band. It's a game "inspired by classic dungeon crawlers" and taking inspiration from Avenged Sevenfold's music and artwork. Weird, but hey it doesn't look that bad.

Review: Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon (3DS) photo
Review: Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon (3DS)
by Chris Carter

I remember my first episode of Adventure Time. It randomly came on the TV one day and I had no idea what it was -- but I couldn't stop watching. There was something about the show that kept my eyes glued to the screen, watching best pals Finn and Jake battle the "evil" Ice King to save princesses from all across the Land of Ooo.

Years later and I've seen every episode of the show, and I still can't predict what will happen on any given week, or what new endearing character I might meet. To me, that's the mark of something special.

Sadly, the new Adventure Time 3DS game is the opposite of everything the show stands for.

Deep Down can theoretically produce infinite dungeons
