Hybrid board/videogame Collusion full of lies and deceit

As a fan of board games and videogames, my ears perk up when I hear about developers attempting to combine the two in interesting ways. Especially exciting are games focusing on subterfuge, deception, backstabbing, and lies....

Getting to know the people behind the Mega Man Board Game

It's safe to say that the Mega Man Board game Kickstarter is a massive success. In just under 24 hours it cleared $150,000, which far exceeds its $70,000 goal. But in an odd turn of events, Capcom is not funding the game -- they just gave board game manufacturer Jasco the license to create a project on their own.

I had a chat with Jasco Games president and founder, Jason Hawronsky, to see how a project like this comes to life, where you'll be able to pick it up once it's actually out, and what we can expect from Jasco and Mega Man in the future.

Space Hulk digital version now available on iPad photo
Space Hulk digital version now available on iPad
by Conrad Zimmerman

Space Hulk, the Games Workshop board game of paranoid derelict exploration, has found a new home on iPad today. Featuring cross-platform play with the PC and Mac versions, you can now skulk around killing your friends pretty much anywhere for $9.99.

Few games manage to capture the Aliens vibe better than Space Hulk does. With its modular board design that makes each exploration fresh and the uncertainty which comes from not knowing how dangerous a group of Genestealers might be at first gives the most delightful tension to everything. Unfortunately, I've yet to read a glowing review of the digital release, so I'll probably just stick to the tabletop for now.

Impressions: DICE+

Earlier this year, we got our first look at DICE+, which promises to combine the physicality and social aspect of board gaming with the wider appeal of tablet-based videogames. With tons of features listed, it appeared to be a pretty slick piece of technology, but limited by its short list of compatible software. For now, that is still a pretty accurate assessment.

Backgammon Blitz headed to PS4 this winter

When a new console comes out and there's nothing left to play, we sometimes resort to buying games we'd otherwise never get. Thinking back to some of the utter garbage I bought on Xbox Live Arcade in the Xbox 360's first year...

Review: Divinity: Dragon Commander photo
Review: Divinity: Dragon Commander
by Patrick Hancock

Dragons and jetpacks, Civilization and StarCraft. Mix'em all together and what do you get? Divinity: Dragon Commander.

Okay, it's a bit more complicated than that, but those are certainly the core elements at play when discussing Divinity: Dragon Commander. It's not quite a real-time strategy game as complex as StarCraft, and it's just shy of being as big-picture as Civilization. It does have jetpack-wearing dragons, however, which sort of puts things in perspective. I mean, what else really matters?
