The Evil Within is totally disrespectful to barbed wire, you guys

The Evil Within looks like it has the potential to make me giggle with devilish glee, so I really hope it doesn't disappoint. Unfortunately, I have to take issue with its negative portrayal of barbed wire. Luckily, The Onion...

The Evil Within isn't looking very evil so far photo
The Evil Within isn't looking very evil so far
by Dale North

A behind-closed-doors play session for upcoming survival horror game The Evil Within wasn't as evil as I hoped it would be. I still have high hopes for the next game from Resident Evil vet Shinji Mikami and his new studio, Tango Gameworks, but the two gameplay sessions I saw today at PAX East seemed to draw a bit too much on his past works, and not enough on the freaky stuff.

Some of the imagery from the new trailer had my hopes up, but we didn't see much of that in our demo today.

Yep, The Evil Within is going to be one super creepy game alright photo
Yep, The Evil Within is going to be one super creepy game alright
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Oh The Evil Within, how I can't wait for you to scare the every living daylights out of me. Shinji Mikami's past games were my first tastes of the survival horror genre, and I'm quite looking forward to see what he does with his latest title.

The newest gameplay trailer here is full of monsters, scares, and all sorts of spooky things. Including a dude that has a safe for a head. Also can we talk about how great the promotional art for this game is? The face with barbwire is creepy enough, but then you notice the letter T is heading downward to pierce the eye. So good.

The Evil Within will be out on August 26 in North America, August 28 in Australia, and August 29 in Europe for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

'Nowhere to Run' in new Wolfenstein gameplay trailer

I've got kind of a thing for Wolfenstein 3D, since it was one of the first PC games I ever played, but also World War II and alternate histories in general. So excuse me while I indulge in some inappropriate levels of excite...

Over 5 million people registered for the Elder Scrolls Online beta photo
Over 5 million people registered for the Elder Scrolls Online beta
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

The Elder Scrolls Online is officially available today for the masses on the PC and Mac. To celebrate, Bethesda has released another badass cinematic trailer, titled The Siege.

Along with this trailer comes a neat little infographic Bethesda put together. Highlights include that 5 million people registered for the ESO beta, there's over 40 million weapon variations, there's so many character variations that the number can't even fit on the infographic, and that it would take 32 hours to read the over 2,000 books in the game.

Wondering how ESO is? Check out our first 24 hours with the game, and check back frequently as we'll have ongoing coverage of the game up until we do the full on scored review.

It's not all shooting in Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein: The New Order is as middling as I feared photo
Wolfenstein: The New Order is as middling as I feared
by Abel Girmay

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a videogame that has guns in it, and you use these guns to kill people. That's about as remarkable a statement as I could rack my brain for after spending three hours with game.

As much as some Wolfenstein fans may want to greet The New Order with fanfare and anticipation, I have to say folks, there just doesn't seem anything noteworthy to this newest title. With the exception of a few moments, Wolfenstein: The New Order feels like a phoned-in, by the numbers first-person shooter.
