Good Old Games will finally let you grab the original Syndicate on January 19 for $5.99. Not to be mistaken with Starbreeze's upcoming first-person shooter, this classic 1993 game should keep you occupied while you wait to see if the series' reboot is any good. Josh Tolentino pondered about the true legacy of the Syndicate series a few months back, which is worth a read if you missed it.
Being able to just download the Bullfrog classic at any time and play it on a Windows 7 PC is great, but you know what else would be great? A surprise top-down Syndicate title announcement by EA, in the spirit of Firaxis' upcoming XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It can't hurt to ask, can it?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

GOG has some kind of deal with EA where they are releasing the old games piece-meal. There's some talk on the GOG forums about rights conflicting with releasing the Syndicate expansion alongside this one, so I dunno about Wars. Wouldn't be surprised if they release that sometime around the new game, though.
I have the Syndicate Wars original disk. Its a great game, i remember i enjoyed it more than the original Syndicate. But it just dont run all that well in my computer nowdays. There´s some sound problems, resolution problems... well, its a mess.
Do this release at this Good Old Games fixes the obvious problems of running a 17 year old game in today´s operational systems?
@Vitor
Any game released from GOG is updated to work with current operating systems, so you can rest assured that any thing you download from them will run just fine.
The only way to know is to wait until Thursday and hear what people say, some GOG releases fix every issues with everything, some doesn't fix more than the actual booting of the game (Atlantis: The Lost Tales for example).
Sir Tobbii is correct. I should have been more specific. GOG only guarantees that the game will run, not that it will run perfectly. There are some games on GOG that you will need a bit of tweaking here and there to get them running exactly how you want them. Some might need a resolution fix, some may need a third-party patch, and others might require you to configure the executable a certain way. The good thing is that all the resources you need are made available by the community fairly quickly. So if you ever do have trouble with a game, you will most likely find the perfect fix in the forums.
I'm half kidding.
I never played any other version so I wouldn't know.
Asking EA? For anything?
Yes
