But no seriously I'm just angry that I didn't get BootCamp working in time for this beta.
polish, but the combat feels disconnected. Maybe it's just lag but every other mmo runs like butter on my rig. Even on WoW expansion release days.
Remember that bit where Luke and Han man the cannons in the Millenium Falcon and take out all those TIE Fighters? Well, there's a cutscene where you watch two charisma-free cyphers do that. Remember how Han Solo had the fastest ship? Well, there's a Bounty Hunter who has the fastest ship too. Remember how Darth Maul had a double-ended lightsabre and did all this really cool jumping about stuff? Well, you can watch someone do that it a cut scene.
The trouble is that when you go to do any of this stuff it's shockingly bad. The animation is remarkably stiff, and you can't get round the fact that rather than having an epic battle and wielding the power of the force to cannily crush your foes, you are repeatedly right-clicking on a badly rendered set of polygons and watching numbers appear, although occasionally you left click on an icon to use a special power, which makes the numbers appear with a different sound effect.
In between that you have forced conversations with NPCs and carrying out objectives that at least ten other people are trying to do at the same time. The first Bounty Hunter mission has you sent to destroy some electronic tower things and hack a shield generator, or something. Except there are at least fifty of these towers and they keep respawning so everyone else can complete the mission too.
So after about four hours of this I just gave up. Maybe it gets better, but I'm too fond of the films to find out.
Given that the game is an MMO, the Bounty Hunter story that I've been playing was compelling and significantly more engaging than the competition. It's been a long time since I've done a quest in an MMO just to find out what the balls is actually going to happen next.
The betrayals, the wise cracks. The game feels like Star Wars. Specifically though, it feels like KoTOR, where a well equipped bounty hunter can take down a Jedi. Yes, there's button pushing and numbers, but frankly, when those numbers come from you raining death on someone with a goddamn jetpack and rocket launchers, it doesn't seem that bad.
Terribly boring art style, horrendous and outdated graphic engine. Bland, uninspiring and lifeless environment. Stiff, broken animation and clunky game mechanic. Extremely low resolution texture everywhere, bad optimization. Poor character creation, unoriginal and awkward UI.
Might have been good if released in 2004...might.
I don't know who made this game, but this isn't Bioware. No way in hell. It's a sluggish, broken and unplayable POS.
Oh boys, mark my words, people are in for one big major disappointment. This is going to fail hard.
