A lot of people still doubt that the iPad is a "valid" gaming console, pointing out that most games for the thing are either ports or shovelware. There is also the argument that since the iPad has no dedicated gaming buttons or directional controller that it wasn't built for gaming, and that all the games for it aren't meant to be taken seriously.
Sword and Sworcery proves those people wrong. The game was built up for the iPad, and it really shows. It actually feels like the iPad was made specifically for this game, and not the other way around. That's how perfectly they fit together. The device's accelerometer, its touch controls, and its enormous size are key components to the Sword and Sworcery experience. It's not quite like anything I've ever played before, and I can't imagine playing it on anything but the iPad.
Also, did I mention how the game plays like a cross between Monkey Island and Punch-Out, and looks like combination of Super Metroid and Shadow of the Colossus?
When you're talking videogames, I don't think it gets any more "valid" than that. The game comes out this week, so if you know what's good for you, you'll give it a try. Check out the full video after the break!

May have to look at that one. So far I'm mostly liking the casual word games or the ports of many of the old point and click adventure games - namely Myst and Monkey Island which translate awesomely well to the IPad!
This does sound interesting, though I wonder what the price point will be?
Oh my god this looks so wonderful. I've been in love with this game since I first laid eyes on it, and it's ALMOST enough to make me buy an iDevice... but I just can't bring myself to blow hundreds for one game, no matter how amazing it looks. I hope that it will get ported to Android tablets someday!
That looks super interesting and I am going to buy it ASAP.
I like that developers seem to be getting more and more willing to re-frame how they conceive of control schemes for their games; the more organic a game feels with the iPad and its touch controls, the better. I haven't been too wowed by any ports but games that are conceived as iPad games have a whole avenue of interaction unavailable through consoles or other handhelds that is worth exploring.
Man I can't get into adventure games. The pixel art is excellent, the combat looks interesting and the art is gorgeous, but I fucking hate adventure style "click to walk over here and interact with shit" games. They bore me to tears.
But I guess I ain't their target audience anyway.
this is awesome, just think of all the hours ill spend on this game! just need to make xur im still in the right time with my time tracking app from tsheets
Games like this will never see the light of day on Android. You can thank Android for being on 20 different pieces of hardware and having 5 versions of it that are widely used for that. Bring your over priced Xoom back and buy the real tablet computer. I really do hope however HP does something great with WebOS. I LOVED that on the Palms and was a shame to see it not catch on. Oh did I mention fuck Android? Because seriously. FUCK ANDROID. On a aside note this game is an audio visual wet dream come true
Think I'll finally have to pick up an iPod when this comes out for it. I'll let everyone know right now that the developers for this game have already stated that it's exclusive to the iFamily of products forever.
Got this game for my iPhone 4 and I totally adore it! It's only like $3-4 or something? Definitely worth picking up. The art and the soundtrack is just amazing. I play it in the dark and it just gives you the most cozy feel ever. This is definitely the best iOS game I've ever played. Just brilliant.

iPhone a month later
also no, android.
Totally didn't realize you were recording a thing. That still probably wouldn't have stopped me.

Superbrothers said that the iPhone version is coming out in April.
