Switchball and Word Puzzle on XBLA this Wednesday photo

Wednesday will see the release of two Live Arcade puzzlers, Switchball and Word Puzzle. Each game will set you back by 800 Microsoft Points, should you deem them worthy of purchase.

Switchball is one of those "get from point A to point B" games in which you guide a ball through a series of unnecessarily complex mazes. It features some fancy visuals and 2-player co-op in addition to 8-player competitive racing.

Casual gamers and manly men rejoice, as Word Puzzle is right up your alley. It definitely reminds me of another popular word-finding game, but I've been informed that it "contains 95% less worms than the leading competition." I'd be all for that if we were discussing dairy products, but I'm a firm believer that games about worms are pretty damn awesome.

Do either of these XBLA games interest you, Dtoiders?

Switchball might be cool, but CoD4 comes out tomorrow so who really cares?

Ack 800 points?

These both look like great 400 point games. I'm a sucker for word finder games.

I've been really looking forward to Switchball despite the fact that it is a blatant (and I do mean blatant) ripoff of Ballance. But guess what? My second 360 gave me the Red Ring of Death today. Let's hope the third time is a charm. I demanded one of the new Falcon models (their cheaper to make anyway so why wouldn't they) and expedited shipping or I want a full refund to buy a PS3. Let's see what they say...I would really go buy an Xbox 360 Elite with the money though, not a PS3.

* Switchball – Based on real-world physics, Switchball is an intricate puzzle game set in a stunning 3-D world where players control an ever-changing ball along a narrow, winding course suspended in midair.

* Thank god that someone finally came up with the idea of merging Katamari with high tension tightrope walking. I mean, I know that there have been Katamari tightrope games before, but this one has real-world physics. That's right bitch: Real. World. Physics. When you fall off that tightrope with your Katamari, you go straight muthafuckin' down. I heard they almost had to put this shit on the Xbox 720. But then that would be fucking retarded, wouldn't it?

* Word Puzzle – The classic pen-and-paper word search game is brought to a new level of excitement on Xbox LIVE Arcade, complete with combos, high-score achievements and the ability to compete against others online.[/b]

* O_O Are you serious?! No really? I'm not even joking in the slightest way. Someone at Microsoft thought that putting the retarded cousin of the fucking Hide-a-word puzzles on a video game system was a good idea? "Hi, I'm Microsoft, and I have an incredibly bad Meth addiction. I've been sober for NONE days." Retards.

Thanks Dyson!

Switchball reminds me of a nice version of the old Nintendo classic Marble Madness.. I'll download the trial and give it a whirl, but I probably won't fork over any cash for it.

vp360: The 360 is just a piece of shit when it comes to durability. I really love my 360 and take perfect care of my baby. My first one I bought new (Premium) and it would randomly freeze constantly. They sent me a different one back that worked for I would say roughly a year then I got the Red Ring of Death. I don't think I play THAT much, but you can judge that for yourself:
