Played the demo on the home console version yesterday. It brought tears to my eyes from that much happiness. The last time a game did that was.....Galaxy 1! So i think its safe to say, from my perspective, we can actually look forward to a sonic game for the first time without any gimmicks for the first time in ages. Colours was a welcome return to form, but this is the first traditional sonic game in quite some time. Very excited!

WEll, graphics are kind of underwhelming and the second screen usage is borderline ridiculous, but who am I kidding, I'm buying it anyway.
The console demo was pretty awesome, but the controls were extremely stiff -- Hopefully this version is different. Other than that, though, I loved it, and the 3DS version looks pretty impressive, too.
Oh, and where are the asshats with the Sonic Cycle picture? Shouldn't they have been sitting at their computers waiting for a Sonic story to be posted? They're slipping.

I'm more or less in agreement, Jim. Dimps is working on the 3DS version, and they do awesome stuff with the franchise and after Sonic Colors DS, they've proven that they can get fantastic results with the Rush philosophy. Now all they have to do is channel the same excellence that they had when creating Sonic Advance for the classic Sonic levels, and they'll be all set.
As for the console version...I enjoyed the demo, but I had a few issues. The camera was too shaky and the levels could have used more branching nonlinearity, not to mention for a gameplay style where speed was a reward, Sonic's regular speed was a little TOO fast...it is still Sonic Team. But I am still looking forward to the final product.

@VGFreak1225: If by "awesome" you mean "boost-tactic", I'm in total agreement. Not that I didn't love Colors DS, but I am getting rather tired of the DIMPs-style 2D Sonic game, and as competent as the Advance series is I don't find it as memorable as the Genesis games and their designs. Also Sonic in Generations 3DS looks floatier than I've ever seen him and GHZ act 1 looks way too short, but I'm definitely looking forward to Launch Base Zone! I just hope they change the Big Arms boss music to its appropriate tune. I remember that forgotten final battle fondly all the more for its music.
I'll give DIMPs one thing though: they have been more consistent than Sonic Team. The latter went from shit to holy shit this is fucking good in a span of 4-5 years after about 10 or so of piddling mediocrity to offensive failures. DIMPs has always produced solid 2D Sonic titles of slightly variable success, although I really found they dropped the ball with Sonic 4 and found themselves boxed into painting over their Rush engine with nostalgia paint and removing the boost to make it (seem) extra-classic and made-for-downloadable-market-quality.

Go Dimps! Though honestly, I think Sonic Rush Adventure was better than Sonic Colors DS (and Sonic Advance 2 was pretty bad), so their stuff isn't -always- the best quality... but I'm definitely interested interested in the 3DS version of this game, since their track record is far better than Sonic Team's.
The demo of Sonic Generations was alright, but it seemed like there was too much going on in the background near the beginning. My eyes barely adjusted.
