The good folks over at EventHubs have a post up discussing SSFIV's character roster, and according to Capcom's Christian Svensson, the lineup was already decided upon some time ago. When asked on the Capcom-Unity forum if there would be fan polls to choose the added characters, Sven said:
"To set expectations the game is rather far along and one of the FIRST things we did was sort out what the roster would be. While we're happy to accept additional feedback for future titles (if they should exist at some point in the future), the ship has pretty much sailed for Super Street Fighter 4."
Not exactly shocking, but it's still interesting to think about. This means the actual final roster has been known by someone somewhere for quite a while, which does lend some weight to the allegedly leaked info from September. Which, with the exception of the arcade release deets, has been right on the damn money so far, even predicting Juri before she was announced, right down to her fighting style, country of origin and even her backstory.
Point is, don't be so quick to shrug off that alleged info, and don't get your hopes up if your character's not on the list. According to Svensson, it's a bit late for that. So if it's all decided, when are we going to hear something official? Seth Killian says we'll find out about the other fighters before Christmas.

do they have 5 gigs to spare? This is way too big to be DLC bro. every character is being revamped, new moves, new everything. You'd have to practically delete the original characters completely. Pay attention, there's too fucking much going on for this to be dlc. They're not just adding some new audio tracks or a couple new character skins. They're adding 8-10 completely new bodies, new ultras, new moves, changes to the slight nuances of frames, new stages, new music, new intros and endings, new network system, come on.
anybody who thinks it's even physically possible for this to be DLC is delusional.
Which is why I'm refusing to waste either of those three precious resources in the pursuit of trying to convince you any further, because what Ron White said must ring true: you just can't fix stupid, can you?
Yeah, we're not getting that. And the problem with that is that if you didn't care much for SF4, it's very likely that you won't care much for SSF4 - quite unlike how I despised Street Fighter Alpha but loved Street Fighter Alpha 2.
Perhaps if we had more 2D fighters to choose from, it wouldn't matter. We don't. It's either this or BlazBlue #Reload - and God help you if you found both to not be your cup of tea.

For one this content could not have been on the first disk due to the fact that the majority of all the changes are based on fan feedback. They release the first version of the game in nearly 10 years on a next gen system. There's no way to get it right the first time. Look at all the other fighters released they all require an updated version cause they didnt get it right i.e. BlazBlue, KOF, heck even tekken could use more then what it got. To say it should be DLC is crazy. Yeah GTA was DLC but what did they do really add more missions and change who you play as thats about it. We're getting a full rebalanced version of the game with every little thing tweaked not to forget the 8-10 new fighters, stages, game modes, fixed online support, music, opening/ending videos plus a bunch of things still not announced. if it were to have been dlc i can tell you it would be more then a 40 dollar price tag with how money hungry company's are with DLC. Plus why would you want DLC over hard media for something like this anyway? If you dont like the game good for you it just means you dont fully grasp the amount of detail it takes to make a game like this better.

I played a preview build at Cacpcom on Monday and had to turn around everytime we got to the character select screen. It was a bit stupid.
Those are speed holes, they make her go faster.
but for real i agree with other post the people complaining about the damn thing not being dlc either 1. dont play the game (still or ever) or 2. would not have forked over the money for said DLC because they want something for free.

If it was DLC I know for a fact all the kiddos saying "It needs to be DLC" would be saying something like "F*ck Capcom releasing this as DLC they are just money hungry trying to nickel and dime me outta everything!!"
People always find something out of anything to complain about. Just enjoy the DAMN GAME FOR WHAT IT IS!!
I for one will be buying the game from day one on both systems. Already have it preordered even. If they release a collectors ED. then I'll upgrade to that. I'm doing it for both not just the love of the game but so capcom gets one more disk based sale so jerk-offs that want the big ole files to be DLC never get their wish.
