Surprise! Rise of the Argonauts hitting North American store shelves next week photo

Just when you thought all of this holidays releases have dried up, Codemasters has announced that its action role-playing game Rise of the Arognauts will be released ... next week. The game will ship for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on December 16 in North America.

While the game will get a simultaneous release across mainland Europe, Rise of the Argonauts won't see release in the United Kingdom until February 6, 2009. We've reached out to Codemasters PR with a big old "WTF" on this one, and we'll be sure to update you when (and if) we hear more. (Surely, it's got some splainin' to do.)

The title was original slated for a November release, but the gods clearly had something else in mind

Last I heard this game was coming out in February. But what can go wrong with rushing a game out early?

Though business wise this could be a good idea, since it'll be the newest game on the shelves for the last minute shoppers

I have no expectations for this game to be any good, but here's to hoping!

Surprise, Argonaut secks? What good are deadlines if these silly people don't bother following them even kind-of. Everything is late, or early, or late THEN early.

I see a lot of patches in this games future.

Fuck. And I was only going to purchase Gears 2 and L4D this season 'cause I thought this would ship in the new year. Damn it all to hell.

@ Gamegoblin
Same here. I'm a tad worried because I will be home for break soon, but said to ship it here at college.

As for the game itself, I will wait for the reviews and if it turns out good it will show up in my gamefly queue.

FUCK! fucking motherfuckers! February 6th! that's two fucking months! And the US Xbox version wont work on a UK Xbox! Fuck Codemasters, Fuck Microsoft and Fuck the ocean for creating such an impassable divide between the UK (and AUS) and everywhere else that it takes 2 fucking months for me to get a game that I would have bought, but now won't.

@ DR Mexico

The actually means of transportation is rafts pulled by turtles, hence the two month wait. Most cargo is lost in The Great Turtle Voyages of 08/09 but eventually they will arrive in London with precious cargo.

@Atlas

does that mean that we will soon be able to play SSBB and the first rock band?!
Also, aren't Codemasters a British company?
What's the deal with that?
