Surprise! Call of Duty: Black Ops is getting a DS version photo

Guys, guys! You can finally relax now. A DS version of Call of Duty: Black Ops is in the pipeline from developer n-Space. This is happening and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

I have no personal experience with any of the Call of Duty games for DS, but friends of our family have kids who really dig them. Full disclosure: they don't own any current-gen consoles, so they take what they can get. Anyway, I imagine there are plenty of people in the same boat, which is why companies keep doing these handheld ports.

Like its console brethren, this miniaturized Black Ops will have controllable aircraft, such as the jet shown above. Six-person online multiplayer with the standard perks system is also a given, which I can't even fathom. Just goes to show how not in the know I am when it comes to competitive DS games.

Bravo to those who try and push the DS to it's limits.

Attempting to recreate the perk driven system of the console titles is risky but ultimatley impressive.

I was going to complain about quality but to be honest I've never played a DS CoD game so I can't comment on the overall quality.

Still sounds stupid though.

i really enjoyed Modern Warfare Mobilzed online play and even the campaign alot. I even have it for XB360, and still probably play the DS version more! Its sweet to be able to play on WIFI and the gameplay is actually really good. Simplistic maybe, but that is not always a bad thing you know

Do we really need more proof that the Nintendo DS (current gen) just isn't suitable for porting versions of games that base themselves on realistic graphics?

If I were to make a portable version of the Call of Duty series I'd go RTS tactical with the touch screen, scrolling shoot em up, or 2D-Sprite based FPS in the style of the original Doom. Keep the polygon count to a minimum. This is the equivalent of a hugely obese, 40 year old lady trying to squeeze into a new dress that was a fitting size for when she was 20. It really shows it's age in the graphics department.

I'd really enjoy the COD ds games if the framerate wasn't so bad
