The mysterious one-woman news bomber Surfer Girl hits us with a megaton of new "insider" tips/rumors, with many being Nintendo flavored this time around. We still don't know who Surfer Girl is, or where she gets her information, but we like running it because the things she includes in her hot tips makes us happy, true or not.
Here's some highlights from her November 10th posting:
- A new Skies of Arcadia for the Wii seems to be a yes.
- Sega does not want to bring back Shenmue.
- Capcom character could happen in SSBB
- Ghostbusters game is coming 2009
- Street Fighter IV is 2d/3d/cell-shaded on the PS360
There's too many here to discuss at length, so I'll let you do the work in the comments section. This is all great if its true, but to tell you the truth, I'm still hung up on her October 29th posting that states that Sega's Chu Chu Rocket is making a comeback on the DS or Wii. Don't toy with me, Surfer Girl!
Read the full list after the jump.
1) The Jet Moto series is alive in the same way a rock is. Twisted Metal has a future on that new console that ends with a 3.
2) An Animal Crossing MMO would not see release outside of Japan, NoA and NoE are obstinate in only wanting limited online functionality in the title.
3) F-Zero is coming to Wii and possibly, but probably not, being developed by Monster Games (according to someone with a rather legimate email address).
4) A new Skies of Arcadia for the Wii seems to be a yes.
5) No Wave Race, Luigi's Mansion's 2, Excitebike (it's called Nitrobike) or 1080 for Wii. Punch-Out for Wii, if it has gone beyond the prototype that was made last year, is a remake of the original NES title.
6) KHIII, if it is coming out. is definitely coming to the Wii, they need the game's demographics (which lean a bit younger than your average SquareEnix fanboy) to purchase the title. They are Disney, who is co-publishing the title outside of Japan.
7) Sega does not want to bring back Shenmue. If I wanted to see the story conclude, I wouldn't be pushing for a game that probably is not going to happen, I'd be pushing for a graphic novel version (which is far more feasible than another extremely expensive game that would probably not break even).
8) Microsoft is not dropping Rare.
9) Heavy Rain an "adventure game" that features a number of things I've never seen before in a game and it has been in production for at least two years by now..
10) No Wario World sequel.
11) The next KOTOR is being worked on at BioWare, pre-production and some early production has been done internally at LucasArts, though.
12) Nintendo is most likely co-publishing Itadaki Street DS here stateside and the game is almost certainly to get a new name (and I have been told it was Nintendo's idea to release the game outside of Japan). If the game does well, Itadaki Street PSP may be released stateside. It's a Wonderful World is coming stateside next year as well.
13) Next year, I'm looking forward to Brutal Legend, Blocks, LMNO, Alive, Hail to the Chimp, Alan Wake, Prince of Persia, Heavy Rain, fl0wer, Getaway, Duke Nukem Forever (not that I cared for the previous games, but you have to wonder what was done with ten years of development), Max Payne 3, thatgamecompany's third PS3 game, The Outsider, Lego Batman, No More Heroes, Mushroom Men, Spore, as well as I few others I have forgotten.
14) Capcom character could happen in SSBB (I'd say Mega Man, who has his own Wii-exclusive coming next year), but a Square character seems highly unlikely.
15) Ghostbusters game is coming 2009, likely not being developed by ZootFly, and is coming to PS360 and possibly Wii.
16) Street Fighter IV is 2d/3d/cell-shaded on the PS360.
17) A new PSP is three or four years away
18) BG&E2 is coming is PS360Wii.
19) Activision has a title that supports the Wii Zapper coming in the near future.
20) Factor 5 would like to develop for Wii, but there are not any concrete plans for a title.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
for a Wii owner, they seem very nice.
I just don't know if I could trust her.
Tho I do love THAT surfer girl.
Most of those seem like speculation, and if she throws enough of them out there, she will be right some of the time.
#7 and #10 make me a bit sad.
and #18 is news that's almost too good to be true. the second most under-rated game of the last console generation is actually going to get a sequel... i'll believe (read: buy) it when I see it.
also, KHIII on Wii = seckz
But it's nice to see some news on Heavy Rain. I bought a P$3 just for the game.
Although, if Skies 2 comes to Wii and they get rid of random encounters, I will buy a Wii. Easy sale right there.
What I don't get, is that someone compiles all these old, much known, speculated rumours and then claims they have some credible inside info, and next thing you know, sites like Destructoid are giving this person their much wanted 15 mins of fame.
When just one so called insider releases info about something that cannot possibly be second guessed, which is highly accurate and very specific...let's just say a new IP for the Wii which features two completely new co-op characters, which takes place in various industrial/building sites. Then that turns out to be true, then I will give that person some credit. But these rumours, it's like saying MGS will be delayed and Mario will feature in a new Nintendo game.
That ebing so it throws doubt on the rest of them, except for the ones that are fairly safe bets.
Tell him about the twinky.
#18 makes me tight in the pantaloons.
Street Fight IV
Twisted Metal
Max Payne 3
Duke Nukem Forever
Thatgamecompany's Third PS3 Game
------
Everyone wants a Surfer Girl NOW! WoooooT!
Right now.
(only because I am holding out for Chrono. I am THAT hopeful)
Please bring Megaman to SSBB.
Sincerely Yours,
The Internet.
lol
is there any way i could make this my avatar? i tried but it wont let me.
Capcom character in Super Smash Bros? Megaman
SFIV on PS360, durh
Either way, Sega, Skies of Arcadia 2 & Shenmue 3 please. Capcom get started on a proper Power Stone title... on Wii... 4 player+ online... (You heard it here first)
I wish Capcom would make a Breath of Fire 6.. :(
YES PLEASE. GET ME THIS NOW.
I still think it can happen.
What about the twinky?
I really hope you have an eye on some other games. Heavy Rain was a short trailer with no indication of anything whatsoever. I wouldn't say your money was spent poorly, but I will say that you bought a PS3 unwisely if that was your main reason.
Them's the odds.
(only because I am holding out for Chrono. I am THAT hopeful)
Screw Crono (proper spelling, dammit!). The very last thing SSMB needs is another sword wielder. As sweet as using Luminaire for your final smash would be, Crono would be otherwise lost amongst all the other swordsmen. Give me Magus. Magus would bring the following to the brawl: a nontraditional melee weapon, flashy specials, a Dark Matter final smash, and unadulterated badassery. And he can float. If I could pick one character for SSMB, it would be Magus.
As regards other rumors, I will cry if #18 doesn't come true. I don't even need it to come out on all three consoles. If it came out on PS3, that's a PS3 sold immediately. Unfortunately, I am most likely going to mourn the lack of a sequel for one of my favorite games of last gen.
