Supreme Commander sequel coming in November photo

THQ announced earlier today that Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is currently in the works for PC and will be released this November. It’s going to be a standalone title that is compatible with the original game, meaning new strategic options will be available.

But, Chris Taylor and the rest of guys at Gas Powered Games aren’t satisfied with making just another sequel -- no, they have bigger plans in mind:

Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is not only the continuation of the epic story that is unfolding inside the game's universe, it is the continuation of our goal to move the bar for RTS gaming even higher than ever. Forged Alliance offers over 100 new units, more maps and an entirely new faction ... we are stuffing this game with all kinds of new features!

I tried my best to get into Supreme Commander, but for whatever reason, I was never able to. Could it be that I’m too used to playing real-time strategy games like Warcraft and Dawn of War? Or maybe I am just doing it wrong.

In any case, it’s sounding like if you enjoyed the original Supreme Commander, you’ll love the sequel just as much, if not more.

Is this the one where, if you're losing, you can fly your commander into your opponents base and nuke it because he blows up big when he gets destroyed? Thereby giving you a tie, or in the case of a 3 or 4 way match, screwing up someone else's chances of victory? Because no one wants to play that game with me anymore, can't think why.

the resource gathering took too much time and overall forfeited the fun, the game CAN be a lot of fun if they get rid of resources

The game is good, but there's not enough difference between the three factions. There are almost no unique units except for the experimentals. Still, this is my favorite RTS ever, and the expansion sounds a lot better.

P.S. If you don't like resource gathering, just turn on the double resources mod.

This shouldn't be classified as a sequel, but ratehr as a standalone expansion pack, similar to Dawn of War: The Burning Crusade (which is my second favorite RTS of all time, might I add; right behind Starcraft).

I like that THQ is packing a lot of stuff into their expansion pack which is something more developers should do. Even though I don't like supreme commander that much, at least the community is getting a pretty beefy add on from the sounds of it.

My bad, I meant Dark Crusade...not Burning Crusade.

The ONLY good thing about this game was the awesomeness of multi monitor support. If they can make a better game that has that kind of support, I'd gladly play it. But a sequel to a decent game at best won't get my money.
