Supreme Commander demo is ready for action photo

Get it while it's hot! Gas Powered Games released a demo for their upcoming RTS, Supreme Commander, earlier today. Including a portion of the Cybran campaign, a skirmish map, and three difficulty modes, this single-player demo should tide us over until the game hits stores on February 20th.

Unfortunately, the demo itself is just over 1GB in size and the server I've been downloading from is extremely full. As a result, it could be hours before I will be able to test drive what looks to be an amazing game. For those of you who were lucky enough to play already, how do you like it?

Download the Supreme Commander demo right here

[Thanks, Ted]

This game looks like Starcraft on steroids. That is to say, I can't download it and I'm basing my opinion off of screenshots.

if you don't like a cluster fuck of units, don't try this game.

I have been looking forward to this game. If the bloody demo will ever finish downloading and not corrupting(2 times so far after 700mn) I will have a chance to play the game and see how it runs on my rig. And if I like it as much as I think I will be picking it up next week.

Downloaded it the moment it was released. Im loving the dual screen support for it. Although it doesn't seem to run to fast for me (which is a dissapointment)

Regardless I'll give it a proper play later in the week.

Has anybody compared this game running in DX10 to DX9 yet? I'd like to see the graphical and performance differences.

And I am downloading the demo, and I've heard good things about the game. Apparently PC Gamer has already reviewed it and gave it a 91%. I remember reading about the editors playing beta versions directly from Gas Powered Games. I'm guessing they made a grievous error and forgot to put the the D-toid editors on the mailing list?

I've gotten 2 corrupts and one of my downloads cancelled, so hopefully I'll get this thing by the weekend.

Game is frickin beautiful, it does savage my PC even on medium settings though. I hear even the projectiles have thier own lua scripting... I've been following this game by torrenting the multiplayer beta (and skirmishing with it, even back before AIs were in) and it's seriously gotten better with every beta version. Its nice to see a game make progress like that, sit in beta for so long. If Vanguard had done that it wouldnt have arrived a steaming pile of donkey dung.

Even though the masses of units crashing into each other isnt my RTS cup of tea (prefer Company) the moddability and the beauty of the game has drawn me into buying it. It's just well done, and a game this well done really should be supported, in a world of Vanguards and Maddens, a game that's done this well is just incredible.

I went to bed at 1:30am last night, the earliest I have in a long time, just so I could sleep while this demo downloaded for nine hours. I woke up at 11 and have been plaing it since.

It's really awesome, seems to be meeting my seven months of anticipation, but the menu at the bottom is way too big; I hope there's a way to change that. I don't like how the physical arena only takes up like half of the monitor.

I *did* sit at my computer so that I could start downloading the demo JUST as it was released earlier this week, but once I started the download it seemed too slow (didn't realize the file was a gig,) so I restarted and tried again. And then the server was full so I couldn't get on. So I didn't get to play it until just now.
