Supreme Commander 2 ups the robots vs. robots ante photo

By the time I'm a withered old man, I expect to have 3D board games with battles that unfold similar to the scene presented in this Supreme Commander 2 image. It could be sorta like The Indian in the Cupboard, except with robots -- these are the things I spend time thinking about on a daily basis.

Since Gas Powered Games is doing the Xbox 360 port in-house in addition to the PC version, unlike the first Supreme Commander, I think we can expect good things.

Well, considering how it's an RTS on a console, maybe not "good things" necessarily, but certainly better things than last time when it launches this spring.

Make sure to look over the gallery, especially if you're a fan of large-scale robot fights.

The original Supreme Commander was simply too supreme for the interface that it was given on console. The sort of game where shorter matches can still take over an hour needs an in-house touch.

Then again, Gearbox said they were designing Borderlands' PC interface in-house, too...

Sup Com 1 on the Pc was just fine, and I still expect a similar trend for the sequel. Even if I could only play it on 360 I wouldn't, it's just not comfortable for me to play RTS games on consoles.

Oh and Robots.. Lots of robots, but I don't see a Monkey lord..

The first supreme commander was such a letdown on the console... and it was a massive shame because the interface and controls were perfect as far as I was concerned! I have never been able to control a console RTS so throughly and intuitively before!

Never played the original, but Supreme Surrender was a hilarious spoof.

First C&C4 now this? So many RTS games getting Mech heavy. I think I might start playing RTS games again!

@Nitex

To be fair Supreme Commander is the spiritual successor to Total Annihilation in which the main combat infantry units, KBots, were 12' tall exo-suits.

I second Bo Xu. Krogoth was the shit in Total Annihilation. Of course, I'm a turtle, so I spent most of my time building walls of Intimidator artillery to defend my base and watch the rain of hellfire destroy anything that even gets halfway to my base.

Good times.

Of course my computer sobs whenever I even think about Supreme Commander.
