Super Smash Bros. DOJO ready to be oogled, poked with sticks

Super Smash Bros. DOJO ready to be oogled, poked with sticks photo
     wii

Following last week's confusion regarding runes, numbers and other things that confuse Jim Sterling, (who?) we're happy to report that the official site for Super Smash Bros. Brawl is up and running today, instead of 70 more days from now.

Aside from a rather impressive list of musicians contributing to this much-anticipated Wii title, there isn't a whole lot to see yet. However, the site promises daily updates on weekdays, and there are button placeholders for characters, items and game modes. Something to keep an eye on if beating the crap out of your friends under the veil of classically-styled Nintendo cuteness is your cup of tea.

It'll be interesting to see exactly how they work Nintendogs into the whole mix. If it involves huge packs of overly-excited puppies entering the fray to devour their master's enemies, there will have to be legal action, as this is my own patented finishing move.

[Thanks to TehUberOne for the reminder!]

Wooooaaaaah, the musician from Killer 7?

Wooooooooooaaaaaaaah. Okay, I'm excited.

Get me anything K7 related, even if it's just a new version of Rave On, and I'll spunk a hoseful.

It would be completely nuts if a Killer 7 character made it into the game, but I wouldn't be suprised because Suda 51 (the Kilelr 7 guy) and Sakurai (the Smash Bros guy) are buddies. That is more or less how Snake got into Smash Bros as well. Kojima (the Metal Gear guy) is also friends with Sakurai.

I'm betting on Travis Touchdown from the upcoming Suda 51 game No More Heroes as a more likely canadate for this game, but you never know.

If it is a Killer 7 character, I hope it's the wheelchair guy.

If it's a Killer 7 character, you know what it has to be - the whole Killer 7, with an ability to switch characters. 7 characters in one = badass.

notice how they have a wiimote sideways for "how to play" link? do you think the developers change the control setup from the GC controller to the wiimote controller? it's possible to be able to map the buttons properly
move - d-pad
jump - up
attack - 1
smash - 2
grab/block - B
taunt - a

did i miss anything?

@hydden

No you didn't miss anything, but relegating block and grab to the B trigger == won't work/out of reach. Also some people (like me) are used to X and Y for jumping sometimes, so making up on the D-pad the only jump method won't work either.

I'm hoping that the rumors are true though that GC controllers and button setups are available for people who want more classic Smash controls (assuming they haven't changed the fighting mechanics too much).

I thought I'd heard for sure you could use the classic controller. I much preferred the classic controller for dragonball z 2 on wii than the waggle controls. probably the first and last dbz game I'll play however

Menu music woo! I can already feel how epic it is going to be. I don't think I'm too keen on the new health display though. Kinda bulky.

...So no one else thought this was the most pathetic payoff for a dramatic countdown ever? Meh. Although, if they have a character in the game who's all of the killer7, I'm fucking buying 5 copies. Not sure kaede would be terribly suited to a nintendo game though... SUPER SMASH WRIST SLASHING!
