Super Smash Bros. Brawl slated for May? photo

You heard me, people. The much awaited Super Smash Bros. Brawl seems to be slated for release in May 2007 in the United States. This was mentioned in a chat session on IGN by Matt Casamassina.

Does Matt really know when the game is scheduled for release, or was he just speculating?

Check out this tidbit from a transcript of the chat:

fantastikpro: so Bozon  when do you think we will get smash bros?

Matt-IGN: Fant: May.

Lark Ohiya is gonna go crazzzzzy. I can't wait, but it feels like this date will get pushed back honestly :/ We haven't seen much, and until May is a long time, but I still feel like they are either with holding a lot from us, or really don't have much don't at all yet. I wanna see some more players, like, a lot of them.

I think Nintendo is just focusing on promoting the launch titles at the moment.

You think that Nintendo would show all their cards at one time? Look how long it took to unveil the Wiimote :P

This seems like it could be reasonable. If you remember, Smash Bros. was originally meant to launch with the Wii. But then again, they did make that announcement before any work on the game had actually begun...

I never heard Smash Bros. being launched with Wii...was it really? i thought it was just zelda, mario and metriod.

Thankfully they didn't release them all (even if they were done). Would you imagine THAT crazyness!!!

I think that they've given us plenty of info. so far. Think about all the arenas they show you in the trailers and the amount of new characters they've revealed. I think that they are going to cut alot of characters out from the second one, considering the fact its going to be awhile until the release and the last time they showed a trailer they only revealed fox... weird that they would only show one character...

Ha! That's my birthday! If it's true, I'm getting it, no doubt.

SSBB was never supposed to be a launch title. When it was unveiled, it was always to come out after the launch.

Ballistic: nope. I remember specifically when it was announced, way way back (must have been E3 2005), Iwata DEFINITELY said that it would launch with the Revolution.
