Super Smash Bros. Brawl gets Korean release date ... yes photo

We're not pulling your balls here. Nintendo seriously only just got around to planning the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Korea. While we thought Europe and Australia had it bad with Nintendo's late release dates, Korean gamers have been waiting for two years. Amazing.

After such a long time, Nintendo has finally deigned to give Korea a release date of April 28, 2010. If any Wii owners out there  can even remember caring about this game, I'm sure they'll be glad to know. Seriously, I can't even believe this is a thing that is happening.

"We're not pulling your balls"

Is that a british saying (You're british, right?) or is it just something you made up?

Actually, not as uncommon as you think in general. This is also why console gaming can't seem to get a decent foothold in the most wired country in the world.

Sad thing is, even with the head start everyone got, they'll still be better at it than us after only a week.

@Corduroy Turtle

Usually I would use 'yanking' in place of 'pulling' and balls is interchangeable with 'dick'/'cock'/'tits', but it's a fairly common thing to say over here. Used when you are surprised at something or inquiring whether someone is fucking around with you.

Its a very stupid approach. This often happens in South Africa. Old games finally released at full price when anyone really interested imported it a long time ago or can import it at a reduced price from the UK. I think it took 2.5 years for Super Paper Mario to make its way here. Its especially annoying since many other releases make it on the same schedule as anywhere else. Speaking of which, I'm off to play Red Steel 2.

Makes sense. Nintendo was waiting for the Starcraft craze to die down and it took them this long to realize it wouldn't. Now they're just trying to push it out before Starcraft 2 entirely destroys Korean game sales for the next ten years.

It's more to do with how most Koreans play games. It's a MMO, online casual/hardcore nirvina. Nintendo doesn't have much ground in the country. It's also noted that Koreans don't believe in paying games, but they will flock to micro transactions. Build free games and micro transaction, you have the huge hit.

Wow, how it came to this? Better late than never, at least. If I were a Korean, I'm not sure I would buy it though. And most Koreans who were interested in this game must have bought it already.

I'm in Korea right now and as far as I can tell the Wii just came out here. In fact I think I remember reading that it came out last year. The displays all have Twilight Princess videos playing. Not sure why it took so long...Maybe the historical hatred between Japan and Korea? probably not.
