Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

I admit, I was completely wrong about the Wii. All those jokes about it being two GameCubes taped together was totally way off. The Wii is next gen and it can produce next-gen graphics and situations. I fully admit that I have now been put in my place and I shall dine on crow tonight. Watch this video taken from Super Paper Mario that has finally forced me to shut up about the Wii being inferior.

Thank you Epileptic Gaming for setting me straight.

Wow, people are still bashing the Wii.

How very childish.

I suppose their anger is justified since they can't play all their SWAT and UFC games on it.

Theres actually a scene later on in the "Over There" that has even more enemies on screen. Would have served this purpose better.

have you actually played the game?
its fricken awesome
though it doesnt necessarily use the motion sensing abilities much, it is very creative game.
it is proof that you dont have to have your games in 1080i to be good.

some people may not agree with me, but i think the game looks good. the style of game allows it to be multi-dimensional.. if that makes any sense

I completely agree that the Wii is lacking in the processing power department, but that video was not funny one bit. Definitely not worth a post on the main page.

(agrees with Tapen)

Nice way to bash the Wii and commercialize (?) for EG. Two birds with one stone and all ya need was a website.

Anyone wanna buy my Wii? I simply cannot handle the magnitude of such awesome power, so I must find someone worthy.

Kinjiro's Avatar
Kinjiro at 05/04/2007 13:28
Really, it's a valid point. That game was simply OK, not spectacular, and the power of the system really is holding it back, due to the lack of quality motion sensing games out. Party games don't count the same as regular games, so people who will flip out about Warioware and Rayman, I will agree, they are fun, but cheap, gimmicky, last a month maximum fun.

People like Summa, djWheat and other gaming journalists want Nintendo (and every other publisher) to do the best that they can possibly do. We all want to play really good games. If you're telling me that these ports are the best that Big N can do, then Nintendo is whoring you out and not even giving enough to buy a sandwich and a 40.

I consider myself a lifelong Nintendo fanboy. I'll stick up for the Cube anyday. As for the Wii, probably not. SPM is the last Wii game I play till probably RE4. $50 is a horrible price point for most of these Wii ports. I pre-ordered RE4 Wii because it's only gonna be $30.

There are too many justifiable reasons as to why fanboys and non-fanboys are "Wii-hating" right now. Stop defending a lackluster product and start telling Nintendo to get on top of their shit or we will all lose in the end.

Isn't critiquing the Wii for its graphical capabilities kind of like calling a retarded person a retard? In other words: easy, assholish, obvious, and- Okay, fuck the analogy. I've got nothing.

I can think of no greater measure of the Wii lacking next gen cred, than to compare it's *offroad racing* game to the PS3's *offroad racing* game.

It's like comparing a lcd gameboy with no backlight to a PSP.

Phist, that'd make a lot of sense if SPM wasn't such a great game. I agree, the Wii's got a lot of catching up to do, but this video is silly on so many levels that it makes the baby Jesus bleed out his asshole. We get it: the graphics aren't great. Doesn't make it any less fun.

I can see this being funny maybe to 10-15yr olds heckling to eachother in cracked pre-pubescent voices; perpetually looking over their shoulders while munching on some food item with a pretentious look on their face.

Please, stop wasting space on the internet.

The video wasn't that funny and, I'll be honest with you, I am disappointed with my Wii. It's run out of good games and there aren't any coming out soon enough.

That said, I would gladly take a game with art direction like Super Paper Mario over another generic, bloom filled normal mapped "reality" simulator. The best game I've seen in action in a long time happens to be Odin Sphere.

Creativity > Horsepower.
