Anyway, I hope the mode dies off and becomes a desert overall so people stick to Super Crossfire.
Regular crossfire is still a work in progress with many issues that need work, now they introduce a new one, which so astonishingly broken its not even funny.
Seriously, your health and armor stay static now when you level but they didn't take this into consideration with the damage ratios, so a level 9 gunner will just melt a team in front of him, a tank can death blossom and doesn't need to reload like MNC, its just a cooldown now and some classes are just a step below useless.
And the matchmaking is still broken BUT HERE have some more cosmetic crap.
They did a tie-in gimmick with one of the biggest games on Steam and the game has actually lost players, its sitting at around 1,500 peak, down from nearly 2,500-3,000 players, at this point I'm just gonna watch the game crash and burn, hopefully other devs take notice and use it as a lesson on how NOT to do an F2P game.
I wouldn't go that far, but SMNC definitely needs some work. And their community at the Uber forums is on par with Gamefaqs which isn't helping. The community seems so content to be blind to the games shortcomings and jump on the back of anyone with something negative to say.
It's a shame too because I was hoping the game would be good.
This game urgently needs most basic fixes to matchmaking and control of matches. Why there is no vote to forfeit? Seriously if you got 2 guys drop out or go AFK you should just be done with it and look for another match. Now you're forced to play 3v5. Why is there no voting on map? With matchmaking as it is other 4 guys on your team can sometimes win the game on their own, or loose it whatever you do. There should be some kind of rank, which you earn by gaining more than proportional share of $ in your team and winning often. It would also be good to be able to choose finding a match soon, or one that only gets people of your rank. There should be a chat for not playing right now people of your rank so you can see just how many of them are there and possibly communicate. None of this is rocket science. None of this demands creating tons of assets. All of this is crucial for good experience.
Except all his concerns are completely valid.
The map selection is very poor and all the maps are still works in progress, downtown spunky in particular is horrendous, hated by even the most ardent uber fanboy, the happiest week for many players was when it was removed from rotation.
The matchmaking is broken and that is a huge issue, PVP is at the very core of this game and matchmaking needs to be right before the game is even out, instead you have level 100 guys getting paired up with guys asking how do I upgrade skills, or level 1 solo queue people getting paired against level 100 premades, its not or interesting match when that happens, its just a completely unfun stomp.
Character classes still need to be looked at, Veteran and Tank in particular are quite broken, other classes where overly nerfed and need a buff badly(Wascot).
Another thing that bothers me is the locking pros mechanic, if I bought a pro I should get priority in locking that character over the person using them in the free weekend, if you own one of the pros chances are you will be better with them than the person who doesn't.
This new mode is the ultimate culmination of what an inept and stupid developer Uber is, its so simplistic and so little effort was taken for it, speed the game up and let people rebuild turrets, bam you're done, nobody thought to alter the maps a little so longshot turrets reign supreme, nobody thought to pay attention to character damage or skills, so now you have gunners and tanks running over everybody and assassins and sparks ending matches in 2 minutes, in a similar manner, all SMNC maps where built with the default crossfire mode in mind, this new MNC like mode lended itself better to the much smaller maps in that game.
The game is in dire need of a fix but Uber just covers their ears and release more cosmetic crap and like Peteru said, the uber community is awful and just tell anyone to shut up when they point out a real issue. The right chance to implement some heavy changes was during the TF2 tie-in, instead its the same broken game, now with even less players and a new mode that splits the already tiny community.
They force a combat credit boost in every character pack the price so on it goes up far to much, if I want the zombie set for Combat girl, I should be able to pay the 5 dollar fee, instead I have to pay 9 because they stick a CC boost, so they force you to buy some shit you don't want.
you can totally buy a costume without any attached CC boosts you only get cc boosts extra in bundles... like EXTRA... do the math
and btw TURBOcross is called TURBOcross for a reason
@kyousuke - Very well said I salute you!!!
Holy balls, the hate. I know the game has problems, but you can't just bitch about the devs being "stupid" and call it a legitimate criticism. No purchase is forced, "gameplay is simplistic" doesn't actually say anything, and in my experience the matchmaking problems are WAY exaggerated.
I, for one, like SMNC. If you don't, fine. Play something else. Or at least offer solutions to the problems you see. But don't just insult the devs and players.
The matchmaking system is horrible. By appearance it randomly throws anyone in a match together. Every game consisted of a few people with months and months of experience destroying new players, and the rest of the teams filled out with the people that are getting destroyed by them.
They also have several pros that are way overpowered compared to the rest and have remained that way since release despite the general agreement in the forums there. It is bad enough that some guy that has been playing for months and months is killing you every 60 seconds, but that guy is using an expensive pro he purchased that you couldn't kill with your pro even if you were the same skill level.
Want to play with your friend? Too bad. You and your friend are welcome to sit in the queue for 25 minutes waiting on a game if you want since the guys at SMNC have not figured out how to make it so you can pair up with your friend and still work you into matchmaking.
The game issues mentioned above are not the worst part. If you are Ghandi and can suffer through them long enough you will get to meet the worst community in gaming history. PvP communities always are a mixed bunch but this group is the bottom of the barrel. Be prepared as a new player to have them rage at you for being terrible while you die every time you leave base due to bad match making. If you should use the forums be prepared to be called every name in the book and mocked every way possible for having an opinion, so don't bother.
The player base has dropped down to 700 players and that is during prime time. Don't bother with this already dead game unless you just feel like you want to torture yourself for a bit.
