Science has finally done it. They have taken a videogame weapon and made it into real life. Science be praised. I know, it’s kind of pushing it posting this video, but it is Super Bowl Sunday so shut up and enjoy this real life version of the Flash Liquidizing Ultra Dousing Device.

Also, I think Super Mario Sunshine was one of the worst Mario adventure games ever made due to the F.L.U.D.D. gimmick. Discuss.

I thought Mario 64 was boring as hell, yet I loved Mario Sunshine. A lot of that has to do with the FLUDD. Mario games have always involved a lot of use of power-ups to explore and discover in your environment, which is something that Mario 64 didn't do all that well.

Mario Sunshine made up for that with the different kinds of FLUDD add ons, as well as the inclusion of Yoshi. I loved it.

Sunshine wasn't terrible. It's just that FLUDD meant the platforming wasn't as fun.

I liked Sunshine but damn all that green wore on my eyes after a while. Something did feel just a bit off in the polish as well. It's still better than pretty much any other 3-D platformer, though.

imo, Sunshine is the best of the 3D marios. Why? It was the only one that i found sufficiently challenging. 64 was revolutionary, but not hard. Galaxy had some great ideas, but i literally did not get a single game over through the entire the game, theres 1 ups freaking everywhere and they even had to take the life bar down to 3 to balance the easiness. Still, sunshine will always remain the nintendo fanboy's whipping boy thanks to that bloody water pistol.

why does everyone hate fludd so much??? :S it was just a different way of dressing up marios 'suits'. if mario had had a tanooki suit that threw him 50 feet into the air, a bee suit that made him hover, and a squid suit that made him run fast everyone would have rejoiced because it was a 'traditional mario game'. PFFFT! :P

CONTROVERSY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Super Mario Sunshine is WAY better than Super Mario Galaxy because Galaxy has a difficulty level incapable of challenging a 3-year-old and that retarded spring gimmick. Discuss.

I thought the addition of FLUDD to Mario Sunshine was cool. It was nice to see them thinking outside of the box again, when they could have easily just done a straight untouched sequel to Mario 64.

It seems there's no pleasing us gamers, they are damned if they do, or damned if they don't. However, I think its only a matter of time before Sunshine graces Wii, like Pikmin, the Wii controls might give it more of an edge.

And yes, that real FLUDD is freaking awesome. If this was harnessed and improved, it would be cool for use by firefighters or something.

Guess I'm one of the few who enjoyed Sunshine. In fact, I enjoyed it more than Mario 64 (then again, I didn't play 64 until a good few years after it came out).

Are you serious? Did you actually play Mario Sunshine!? In my opinion it was nothing but good for the Mario franchise.

Sunshine is a great game (effing hard too)

I really liked Sunshine. My only real complaint has nothing to do with F.L.U.D.D., and everything to do with the over-reliance on blue coin-finding.

I agree with J. Holmes comments. I never have beat Super Mario 64. I was playing PSone at the time, and missed the boat. I've tried to go back and play it, but its honestly not THAT great. Super Mario Sunshine, on the other hand, is a great hardcore gamers game. It was tough and 100% fun.

I'm sure we can all agree that Super Mario Galaxy kicks ass?

@dollrapist: 100% agreed. FLUDD was a bit of a pain in the ass, but the game as a whole was a very worthy successor to the 3D Mario line -- until Galaxy.

Sunshine was one of my most favorite Mario games, I still play it even.
I usualy just hang around in Sunshine, just like I'm on vacation, and think that FLUDD was actually a nice adition to the plaforming.
I also loved the "secret" (middle of nowhere floating platforms) levels, but also loved that if you came back you could play them with FLUDD.
so yeah...

Sunshine was an incredible game. It had more polish than Mario 64, a more satisfying difficulty. This is my opinion, I just think the game gets a bad rap.

This video is incredible by the way. Thinking of picking one up.

I disagree with you on the whole "one of the worst adventure games" thing. That game was really good, and genuinely hard. Old school platforming with a surprising and new twist.

I liked Sunshine. Didn't love it, but liked it slightly more than Galaxy. Neither of them are even near the same level as 64 though. Check out the speedruns and glitches for 64, and then look at those for Sunshine and Galaxy. There's no comparison. Of course, I still understand why 64 isn't as well liked as Galaxy. It's just at a disadvantage. At first glance, it appears to be a less polished version of Galaxy with fewer power ups an less innovative gameplay. Galaxy also had the same benefit as SMB3. It came after a sequel that was considered to be less than great, and a long time after the first in it's trilogy. But I still like SMB and SM64 more than SMB3 and Galaxy. Once you dig below the surface of the game, you find all sorts of amazing bugs that create a whole new experience far beyond what most well polished games can achieve. I think that's what Miyamoto was referring to when he said that Galaxy was "lacking" something when compared to SM64.
