Super Mario 3D Land uses gyro sensor for secrets
While I can't wait to get some of that sweet tanuki tail later this fall, one neat factoid that Nintendo announced during their 3DS press conference about Super Mario 3D Land is its incorporation of gyroscopic controls. Using the gyro, players will be able to scout levels and find secrets before actually diving in. No video was shown of the new feature in action, so I can only imagine what it will be like. I'm hoping for a cross between the mini games in Super Mario Bros. 3 and Professor Layton to stock up on some shrooms. Though something tells me that may be asking for a little too much. Thankfully TGS is just a few days away, so lets hope we don't have to wait till November 13 to find out.

Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)I'm doubtful we'll get any news from the TGS since Nintendo won't be there, hence the pre-TGS press conference. I'm still hopeful they'll implement StreetPass somehow Is it wrong that I'm still kinda bummed that this isn't a kick-ass remake of the actual Super Mario Land? I'm sure it'll be fun, and y'know, yay tanooki and all that. But still I can't help but pine for the weird wonders of Sarasaland. Mario shmup ftw. I played this at PAX and was not impressed. The levels felt very cramped and I never felt like I was building up a fluid line through the level. I still have high hopes for this game, they're just a bit tempered. Mario Kart 7, however, was awesome. I don't like the gyroscope for camera control. It was terrible in Ocarina 3D and I have no doubt it will be awful in this, too. @Epic
