i bet nintendo released the 3ds early with no games to ramp up anticipation for the new "goto" games(mario,zelda etC) so that when they finally came out all these 3ds owners with no games would finally have something to buy, so EVERY one of them goes and buys these games. racking nintendo tons of money in the process.

It's good to hear that Nintendo and the 3DS are doing better than before with the release of this game. Still waiting for the Vita however.
@superdeeduper It's more like they are merely fond of 3D Mario while absolutely loving 2D Mario. It's sort of like the difference between Skyrim and Modern Warfare 3. MW3 will sell far better, but that's not because Skyrim is despised.

Yeah, it seems that most Japanese gamers prefer the 2D titles over 3D.Apparently, some of the gamers claim that the 3D titles are too hard and disorientating. According to Iwata, motion sickness and getting lost in a 3D world is the big concern as well as having trouble judging the distance between platforms.
The thing about Super Mario 3D Land is that while it is in 3D, it does take more of a 2D approach to its level design. So 3D Mario + 2D-like level design + 3D effect = Win !

But jim, this is the internet. You had to have known that people would get melodramatic if you criticized the 3ds, and the overreactions it would cause in the public mindset.
Jimmuyx Sterling continuously made so many "funny" articles bashing the 3ds. Same thing he did with PSN. He kept saying the same shit over and over again. I don't understand how that's "news". Well it doesn't matter anymore, the 3ds is selling very well, just like any rational person thought would happen.
