Super Mario 3D Land has debuted at number one in the Japanese charts, and to say it is performing well is putting it lightly. In fact, we're looking at the best 3D Mario debut in history, despite 3DS' documented run of bad publicity. Mario's the fixer, guys. He makes everything better.

With a strong opening act of 343,492 sales, 3D Land is looking set to join the best selling Mario games of all time, and will give the 3DS that kick in the junk it's needed all year. In fact, 3DS sales sit at 145,271 this week, proving that the dwarfish plumber is still a man with whom you don't f*ck.

Good news for Nintendo this week, and thanks to our tipster Fernando, who had this to say:

So... are you guys going to say that Nintendo is doomed like you always do, or do you guys have the balls to write the real story and explain your readers that the system is permorming way better than the DS in the same amount of time?

Yep! We literally predict Nintendo's death every day, so I better not hit "publish" on this post!

Nintendo has revealed that it tested the possibility of releasing Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the 3DS, but had to nix any potential plans due to it being far too difficult to enjoy. According to the company, Galaxy 2's graphics m...
Always bet on Mario. It's a given that Nintendo rarely fails when dealing with its mustachioed mascot, and there's no denying that when a Nintendo system is in trouble, everybody's favorite plumber can bail it out.  The ...
The same shell-bouncing tactic that has granted Mario extra lives all these years returns once again in Super Mario 3D Land. Tiny Cartridge has graciously compiled a few videos which show ideal spots for 1UP grinding, if you...
In the past week, I’ve played an inordinate amount of old school, side scrolling Mario games, so the transition into 3D -- again -- was a bit jarring for me. Once I gained my bearings in the face of this extra dimension...
Like diehard football fans who love watching the draft just as much as as the Superbowl, I love watching the release of high profile videogames to see how well they sell. Case in point: Super Mario 3D Land. Of course, it's un...
Super Mario 3D Land is a hybrid sort of affair that has beautifully merged the gameplay style of a 3D Mario game into the style of an old school Mario-like adventure. The levels are open, open enough to make it see...
GameStop is giving those that pre-order 3DS title Super Mario 3D Land an exclusive bonus, a Tanooki Mario keychain. It's super cute with its ass-out pose. You were going to buy SM3DL anyway, right? Just get it here. GameStop ...
Super Mario 3D Land brings back the Tanooki Suit? Pfffft, whatev. It's a gimped version that doesn't let you turn into a statue or even fly. What's this about the P-Wing, though? According to the back of the Japanese game pac...
