Unfortunately I just sold my PSP and games to pay for my 3DS, but I think I can spare $50. The only problem is, once converted from NZD to USD, it only ends up being around $38, which is pathetic. If you're going to start this thing, Sapho, PM me if that's at all useful.

The fact that you would take time out from your daily lives to help a person, be it a friend or a stranger you just met, shows that there's still some humanity left in the world. As a reader who has attacked a reviewer only on the merits of his review I have to say that these reviewers, whom I do not know in real life, are little more than bylines who sometimes really piss me off. If I knew this reviewer as a person and not just as a blogger, I would sympathize surely. But I can't, and honestly I am not sure it's my job to be a hand holder for people who do shoddy work.

If you give people an open forum to respond to these things in a semi-anonymous way, you are going to get the truth from them (as they see it at least). Are some people going to troll simply for the perverse joy in it? Yes. And do readers want to be validated by the reviews written for games they enjoyed? I think this is also true.

But do reviewers ALSO want to be validated by the comments the readers make? Yes, 100% yes. They want to hear that we agree with them, or that we are going to make a decision to purchase or not purchase based on their commentary. They want to feel as though they have added to the awesome discourse that this site has become known for. I for one am not in the business of including reviewers in that tradition who do not deserve it. So in short... you're asking us to just be nice? Not happening.

I'm glad to hear this. After my last review, I got really bummed out and sort of questioned myself, because several people called me a bad reviewer. But when it comes down to it, I agree with you. They got offended because I didn't like a game as much as they do, and despite all of the reasons I gave to justify the score, said I'm bad at what I do. C'est la Internet, I guess.
