Like everything Suda51 does, his answers here are open to interpretation. I basically ask the guy if he's going to break my heart and change his plan to bring No More Heroes 3 to the Wii U. His response is "Of course! I won't break your heart..." and then goes into an explanation that I'm still trying to understand.
Is he saying that he's planning on a new lead for the No More Heroes series? Is this lead going to be Shinobu, as was previously hinted at? Another male lead perhaps? Only time, close scrutiny, and maybe more interviews like this one will tell.
We also get the final word on Shadows of the Damned, and a look at the Shadows of the Damned and No More Heroes stickers created by Dtoid community member Linzb0t. He stuck one right on his 3DS. It was the perfect ending to what I wish was a perfect interview, but there are still so many questions I want to ask. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to talk to him again soon. Until then, let's figure this out together.

Even taking the conferences into account, Holmes' coverage is one of the things I most look forward to at E3 time. I love how Suda's answer to the NMH3 question blows even J.Ho's mighty brain, pretty much the same reaction I imagine that I would have had. The only thing which could make this video better is - yes - MOAR SHANNON. But seriously, fantastic work as always Jonathan.
Pinnacle of my life right here. Ahaha.
THANK YOU JONATHAN HOLMES/DTOID MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION!
So now comes a couple months lying awake, over analyzing a couple of words from Suda's mouth. (once again!)
I can't help but keep coming back to "who(which character) would hold a weapon like you hold the wiiU?" I know the game doesn't have to play like NMH1/2, where the controller resembles the beam katana, but I still keep thinking about the weapon possibilities for the wiiU controller.
Also if the new weapon requires charging, after having playing that pirate game, i would think it's a bit awkward.
Also, remember when he asked if you were attending PAX? I don't want to get anyones hopes up but.. do you think he has something planned.
Oh, Suda. Why must you speak in riddles?
P-Dude - Thank you! I don't actually have an etsy store, but if there's enough interest, maybe I will sell them? That would be good motivation to make the rest of the assassins.
If you really want some though, send me a message. :)
@linzbot I have an interest. I HAVE AN INTEREST in your amazing stickers.....which are amazing.................... : D
About the interviews...they were awesome. I wasn't going to pre order Shadows because I knew it was going to drop in price rather quickly, and as sad a truth as it is, it would help my wallet.
But I love the guy too much. Full price day one here I come!
Thanks Jonathan for doing an awesome interview. I'm happy soeone finally got around to asking Suda51 some interesting questions about his work rather then just 'what are you working on now?' and 'what are you working on next?'. I'm pretty jealous of you right now ;)
Duuuuuuude! You should have asked anything related to Killer7!! Or maybe something about bringing Suda classic games to America, like Michigan, The Silver Case or an HD version of Flower, Sun and Rain!!
"... so I can write you letters? Really?" Just so nice seeing someone else act in reverence of Suda 51. He's definitely my top game developer. Awesome interview, Holmes. I hope he appreciated the rather personal interest you had taken in his games.
Man, I just had a scary thought. No More Heroes 3, starring Shinobu, a revenge tale set after the death of Travis Touchdown. I wouldn't put it past him, either.
@ Israel- I would have asked Suda about Killer7, but our resident Killer7 fanatic Jim Sterling is planning on doing that very thing for a feature set for the near future.
Great interview Holmes, enjoyed all 3 parts. Of course, anything involving Suda 51 is going to be wonderful in my book.
@linzbot
Like others have said, those are some pretty bitchin' awesome stickers. I'd definitely buy a few as well some of the other assassins if you ever got around to it.
Loved the interview Holmes!! Suda51 is definitely climbing up my top devs list, and I've only just started the No More Heroes games on Wii. :) can't wait for Shadows of the Damned!
Suda is def interesting. I hope you and Jim both get to sit down with him once again. I also hope he decided to do a sort of developer commentary as he plays through his games.
Interviews like this make me realize how far the gaming world is from dvd like extra features. Games special editions should be more than a figurine and an art book. I want to see behind the scenes and deleted scenes. Hopefully one day Suda will have a 3 disc no more heroes special edition with extras for the fans.
Amazing three part interview Holmes, Suda 51 is the man.
Not sure how I'd feel about No More Heroes 3 on Wii U, right now I don't think it would work. I'm curious to how it would work to begin with. I suppose you could still use the old Wiimote but I'm not sure.
To this day, I'm still trying to wrap my head around Flower, Sun & Rain. Someone should definately ask him about that one in the future.
It's very much designed to be boring as possible, while twisting your conventional goals and hindering you from completing them. Yet, at the same time, it goads you by admitting to its intentional flaws and creates an intriguing story about identity in the process.
I would love to really pick his brains over that one because it's such a uncompromising "game" that he's moved away from nowadays.
Anyway, great discussion about characters, Holmes. It's nice to see him talk about his work rather than trying to hype up his upcoming game for once.

Oh, and Linzb0t? If you're reading this, I HOPE YOU HAVE AN ETSY STORE AND SELL THOSE STICKERS. I would like some!

Thank you for getting Suda 51 to reconfirm his statement of putting NMH 3 on Nintendo's next-gen home console.
Still, I envy you.
Watch for it!
At 2:40, the filipino gentleman with glasses might be one of my old professors. He's promoting his comic book right now so that might be him.

and yes we need confirmation about that The Silver Case Remake, another Killer 7, and basically he's next game with kojima and 5pb Cep
