[Update: Liberation Maiden is now available worldwide via the App Store for $4.99 / €4.49 / ₤2.99.]

Well, this is unexpected. Liberation Maiden has arrived on the iTunes App Store in New Zealand. One of my favorite titles of last year, the Grasshopper Manufacture shmup originally launched on 3DS as a part of Level-5's Guild01 compilation before making its way to other territories as a stand-alone downloadable release.

Liberation Maiden is available for $6.49 NZD on the App Store, which would be slightly less than its asking price on the Nintendo eShop. It's likely we can expect a worldwide release within the day.

Report: Liberation Maiden to get sequel on PlayStation 3

Liberation Maiden is getting a sequel! Well, sort of. It seems like Grasshopper Manufacture has decided to eschew Shoko's roots, following up last year's 3DS shooter with a visual novel for PlayStation 3. According to Si...more

Review: Liberation Maiden

The Japanese-exclusive Guild01 is a "game jam" of sorts that bundles four games created by four notable designers in a single collection, and aside from Level-5's co-operation in their development, they are wholly unrelated t...more

Astebreed is a bullet hell shooter where you fight aliens as a janitor

There's no shortage of weird and unique game concepts at PAX East's Indie Megabooth. That's par for the course, though; show after show it goes that exact same way. Whereas some titles rely solely on their strangeness to make...more

PS4, PS Vita space shooter Futuridium looks like pure arcade fun

MixedBag's space shooter Futuridium looked rad on PS Vita, but when it comes to PlayStation games, one version doesn't cut it any more. Not when there's the possibility of Cross-Buy. Thankfully, the expanded Futuridium EP De...more

Review: Neo XYX

The shoot-'em-up genre will never perish, and neither will the Dreamcast. No matter how niche it can get at times, shooters old and new come out of the woodwork in the most unexpected of places, from Steam to legacy consoles. One such release is Neo XYX, a new (yes, in 2014) game for the Sega's last console, making this the second Dreamcast release this year. It's also the best.more
