It's nearly 2009 and videogames still accept cheat codes? F**k yes! Today's consoles have dropped so many retro sensibilities that it's refreshing to hear not all was lost from the transition to high definition.
Since this is obviously the most important and breaking news we will see today, I'll quit stalling and give you the precious cheat codes for Boom Blox that EA waited eight months to release.
At the title screen for Boom Blox, hit up, right, down, and then left on the d-pad. Next, you will be able to enter in the following codes using the on-screen keyboard:
- "Pandoras Blox" - Unlocks all levels in the game
- "Tool Pool" - Unlocks all the toys in Create Mode
- "Nonstop Props" - Unlocks all the props in Create Mode
- "Critter Litter" - Unlocks all the characters in Create Mode
Frankly, this is nothing more than a ploy to boost
Boom Blox awareness and/or help those of us who can't unlock all of the levels, but it's a ploy I'm willing to stand behind.
Boom Blox is one of the few Wii games that can hold my attention, and I think everyone here should run out and get a copy while they still can.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied:
"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Depends on how much you like action-puzzlers with a ton of content to unlock. Some levels are definitely better than others, but almost all of them are neat the first time through. The motion controls are tight and responsive, although I've heard some minor complaints about poor cursor response on HD sets.
Boom Blox is a great game for perfectionists. It's pretty easy to plow through most levels in a few hours with the lowest possible scores, but then you won't unlock anything... if you want to see everything the game has to offer, you'll have to go back and actually work to improve on the levels you've already beaten.
Boom Blox also has awesome multiplayer modes for between 2 and 4 people - with both competitive and cooperative levels to tackle. Only one Wii remote is required, although it's quicker and more fun if everyone has their own.
Plus it's got a great level editor that will let you create your own contraptions and/or levels to play. You can then send those levels to your friends, although there is no way to share them with strangers. The tutorial videos included on the disc are pretty straight-forward, but you can be quite creative with the end results.
Not everyone will enjoy the game, but it's definitely not a "short lived gimmick". Plus the guys at Penny Arcade claimed to love it... so that's, well, something. Check this memorable comic they created about playing the Boom Blox version of Warlords:

So who won't like the game?
-- People who don't like puzzles, or want a strong narrative instead of a set of distinct challenges.
-- People who don't want to move their whole arm and make throwing motions while playing.
-- Graphic whores and/or people who are insecure enough that cute graphics are a deciding factor in what is "fun". (The presentation of this game is fine, but very basic.)
-- Anti-Nintendo fanboys who hate games on any console other than their personal favorite.
