So yeah I don't like 3D gaming...so far.
Plus most of the 3DS games look better in 2D anyway.
>_> who even started this whole 3D fad?
it was James Cameron's Avatar wasn't it?
Opinions are opinions and all that, but I genuinely can't see how someone could argue against 3D gaming if they'd seen this game.
Me I enjoy 3D I have no issues at all with it, like HD it is a choice so yeah 3D consoles can keep on coming...
Video games are the easiest to convert to 3D. NVidia has 3D on the fly (even red/blue) for DX9/10/11 games even if the game wasn't made for it with some spectacular results. (See Microsoft Flight Simulator X.) All games technically can be done in 3D, but the 3D absolutely has to be optional.
It seems to me that one of your eyes doesn't work correctly. Maybe you should have them checked.
Doesn't help that 3D Televisions are expensive, 3D doesn't magically add something meaningful to every game and the major reason the movie industry was backing it as hard as they were was largely because it acts as a layer of built in piracy protection. Since the oll sneak a camcorder into a theater and toss it onto (insert torrent site here), doesn't work with 3D.
Actually you should expect 3D movies in the theaters to jump in price shortly because Sony is going to stop subsidizing (see providing theaters with free 3D glasses) 3D movies.
For example, the avatar movie. Say what you will about the story. The visuals are amazing in 3d. Most other movies just used cheap pop at you tricks.
Yeah because god forbid someone else be allowed to enjoy something you don't personally like, you selfish asshole.
What, did they just sit in line at a busy gamestop and poll people buying a new CoD?
My vision is pure shit, but I've never had anything more than a slight headache after a long session (mostly OoT),so I guess I'm lucky.
It's cool and all, just not something I'm gonna rush out and buy....besides, I'm broke!
I felt the same way until I actually had it in my own house.
Honestly,I only have a 3DTV because I wanted a high end plasma,Not 3D. It just happens to be one of the features. Now I'm glad it did.
It's like having bloom in videogames. Sure, it'll look nice if you do it right and horrible if you do it wrong, but removing it isn't going to detract from the experience much at all.
I would not like a 3d or nothing set up though.
In fact I didn't realize how cheap 3D tv's are getting. $800 for a 46" is cheaper than I payed for my HDTV
Calling it a gimmick is ridiculous, it's not more a gimmick than HD. It makes things look potentially better and more believable/immersive. Are your eyes a gimmick? I think not.
It's pretty lame that some can't physically use it but it's also kinda pathetic when they damn it for that same reason, as if the better image quality others experience is somehow invalid. Much like HD, it's not like the games experience is much worse off without it, it's just a cool addition.
Also...
What is up with that picture? That's not how 3D works and it's just kinda annoying!
It's unfortunate that this is the case for some people, because there's a huge range in the quality of various 3D displays and technologies. Chances are, the first one you see isn't going to be the best. Even most of the games they were showing off in 3D at E3 suffered horribly from cross-talk and generally dark picture from active-shutter lenses. Those examples do not do the format justice.
I just bought a Samsung 27" 3D monitor earlier this week and I absolutely love it. The picture is bright and I haven't experienced any significant cross-talk. So far I've played some Portal 2 and Fallout: New Vegas and they both look great. Portal 2 is particularly stunning. I cannot wait to play Unchated 3 in 3D and I'm planning on buying Shadow of the Colossus and Ico soon. Really, the 3D is so good, I'm disappointed that I'll have to play other upcoming games (like Zelda: Skyward Sword) in flat-vision. :(
That and I'm fine with depth perception in traditional 3D landscapes on the 2D plane (the television), so I don't really understand how people would have issues there either.
To each their own I guess.
Regardless, I'd honestly only be opposed if it was made mandatory. Like see, motion controls for the 360 and PS3 are optional, they kinda weren't for a while on the Wii which turned me off. Fun and all, but a gimmick I have no interest in. Same goes with the 3D. If it's just an addition then by all means, have at it, but I want the same quality of gaming in 2D. IE: Watching the Resident Evil movie that was in 3d...looks very, very, weird in 2D.
