Study: Gamers sleep less than non-gamers photo

I'll be damned. So everyone doesn't stay up into the wee hours of the morning playing games? It's just gamers? And that makes them tired?

Not to poo poo on anyone's research or anything, but I could have told you that. But this data, which is to be presented at SLEEP 2009, the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, gives us some hard numbers and facts.

It turns out that those that game over seven hours a week and those who call their habit a gaming addiction sleep less during the week than other gamers, about an hour less. Those who said gaming inteferes with their sleep lose about 1.6 hours a weeknight. It seems that "excessive gamers" spend less time in bed, have longer sleep latency and shorter REM latency. I don't know exactly what that means, but it sounds bad.

So now there's a correlation between hours of games played an sleepiness. And again, I say no sh*t

*yawn*

In before the national convention of urination finds out that Urininating, releases fluid from the Body!

OMG, Scholar! At least I can write off that convention for my taxes. 'Specialists' Rule.

Being married, I'm allotted specific days for gaming, which is at night after she's asleep. So, sometimes I get 5-6 hours.

Sleep latency is how deep you sleep ; REM sleep is the sleep stage where we dream , and REM latency is how much do ya dream ...

You know what's funny? When I was little(like, 6-7ish), the science said you need between 9-10 hours of sleep to be considered sleeping healthy. Nowadays, they(the science) say you only need 7-8 hours. Who knows, maybe us gamers are on to the new science.

I sleep about 5 1/2 hours a night, on average. That's just because of work and my company's stupid rules about being there. Weekends are a different story altogether.

So gamers sleep less? Guess I'll stick to my anime seasons, which ofc I just have to watch fully. Or maybe i'll go back to reading entire series and I'll just have to put in another 100 pages or read untill the next chapter. Or maybe movies, you know it's only an hour 'till it's finished. Oh wait, maybe that means it's not jùst videogames. How about anything that you love to do so it's hard to put down at a moment's notice?

I sleep 1.6 hours less a day (at least!) nevermind a week. I go to bed before 11-12 once a year.

Also my friend Anna who has insomnia looks a bit like that, short black hair, teddy in hand etc.

I get six hours on a school night, and that's really all I need.
And I make straight-As.

Now, though, I actually sleep more. I simply play videogames ALL the time when I'm up! =p
I stayed up till 3AM playing 'Sigma' and just woke up to check my feeds.
I am now going to beat The Emperor.

feh, I always thought that my senior year of high school was the biggest blame for my lack of decent sleep. I would always have to cram a test the night before and never got any sleep due to stress. Final Fantasy Tatics for the GBA would always put me to sleep.
