We're not sure if it's just a slip of the tongue, but Sony's Sir Howard Stringer told Cnet's News.com that the PlayStation 3 will launch in Europe in April and not in March, delaying the console even more for European fans. You might shrug off that it's just a month, but considering the reaction the fans gave the first delay news, this can't be sitting well with those Gran Turismo lads. Here's what Stringer said: What are the goals for this year for PlayStation? Stringer: I think it's 6 million units by the end of the quarter, worldwide. And then we have got the European launch in April, which is very important to us. I think we have 20 games out there. I assume we're going to increase the number of games.
We're inclined to believe Stringer on this since our own crystal ball Nex predicted the same thing would happen. Will the bad news ever stop? [Update: A Sony Europe spokesperson has already gone on record to say that Stringer was wrong in saying the PS3 would launch in Europe in April. Here's the statement: "A SCEE spokesperson has told GamesIndustry.biz that PlayStation 3 is still on track to launch in Europe in March, despite suggestions from Sony CEO Howard Stringer that it will be here in April."]

lol
"I assume we're going to increase the number of games."
Boy, I should fucking hope so.
Will Nex read my fortune? (oh, and fuck you Sony)
I'm not surprised.
Threespeech.com claims it will be launched on the 23rd March and specifically discounts Stringer's remarks as a "mistake".
I wonder how many of those 20 games will be worth buying.
Resistance. Yay.
I bet Sony is going to pull a 1984 on the Europeans. They'll push it back from March to April and tell them to be happy that they pushed it up from May to April.
As long there no games, they can delay it till next year for all I care. Maybe they could use the time for a redesign, make the PS3 look less hideous too look at, that would be sweet.
Just curious, why is that called a 1984?
man, lucky for sony we're used to this sort of thing in europe. personally ill be waiting a year at least before i consider purchasing this...monster.
"delaying the console even more for European fans." Haha there arenīt anymore left.
1984 = best book ever written.
I did read the book. I thought maybe Nintendo promised the NES in 1984 or something. So it's Sony's version of double-speak, I get it now.
Churchill FTW!
Why don't they just take all those unsold PS3s from Japan and US and ship them to Europe. Leave it up to the consumer to figure out the power issues.
@ Mxyzptlk:
Very. VERY Churchill FTW!
If I ever have a son, that picture is going to be the only thing I leave him. I hope it shames him into becoming as tough as his old man.
If they launch in March it will be double-plus good
