Strike Witches shmup headed for Xbox 360 in Japan photo

Like any good Eastern underdog console, the Japanese Xbox 360 has proven itself this generation's machine of choice when it comes to shmups. With massive support from developers like Cave, it's become a magnet for STGs and the players who love them, and next in line to add to its already amazing library is a new shooter based on Fumikane Shimada's Strike Witches.

At an event in Tokyo today to promote the Strike Witches anime, attendees were given a pamphlet to confirm the game and its support for Xbox Live. A nekomimi, WWII Mecha Musume, low-leg panties, nopan loli witch anime STG is about as Japanese as you can get, and while many of us have been hoping and praying for more of these shmups to make their way stateside, you can bet your sweet ass this won't be one of them.

I just watched that anime like a week ago lol.And just when i was thinking flying loli pantsu witches are so shmup materials , this was announced. The last episode of season 1 have several boss fights too!
The enemies will need more color and vareity aside from those black and red flying neuroi though.

There was a Strike Witches shooter for DS too, but I'm pretty sure it was homebrew. Could be wrong.

I want to pick up a japanese xbox but man, the $100 premium from online retailers is almost criminal.

Is there a special kamikaze ability that allows the player to divebomb on an enemy and explode in a pile of blood and gore while doing MASSIVE DAMAGE to the enemy?

But will it be region-free? It better be given how many countries are represented in it.

Strike Witches is one of the most unbearable anime I've ever tried to watch, but hey maybe this game is fun.

Has this been confirmed as a shmup? I've only heard it described as a "shooting game", which could mean several things...is there hard evidence that we've got a scrolling shooter on our hands?

@Topher: There was an official Strike Witches game announced for the DS to come this winter, I believe. Dunno what's happened to that. Also, there is some Doujin bullet hell stuff for PC. But I've never played it.

Yes, the Strike Witches shooter was homebrew.

This anime is AMAZINGLY awesome (srsly.) and it's also coming stateside, so I wouldn't count this shmup out COMPLETELY. There's always still a slim chance.
