Streets raging on an iPhone near you photo

Streets of Rage is without a doubt one of the best ways to punch punk-asses in the face ever created. The problem with it is that the urge to punch punk-asses in the face can hit you at any moment and at any time, but even updated versions of Streets of Rage can't be at your fingertips at any point or at any time... until now.

You all saw that coming didn't you? I have to work on my surprises.

Surprise or not the chance to play some Streets of Rage on your iPhone or iPod should perk some heads up and SEGA has announced the release of said game over said platform. The App version of the game will feature the three classic, punk-ass punching characters from the original game – Axel Stone, Adam Hunter or Blaze Fielding – and will also have eight action packed levels to punk-ass punch your way through. Who knows if the touch controls will work well or not, but punching punk-asses on the go should at least make the game tempting at $4.99.

Looks like more and more iPhone is heading towards being called a solid gaming platform.

I'll overlook the god-awful Columns/Puyo Puyo port.

@Solid Squirrel : Yeah man, i just got Worms for Iphone and it's pretty full featured and plays very well.

I think whether a game is suitable for iphone depends on the genre. A turn based game like Worms, works well for short burst play on a phone whereas
I'm not so sure i'd play a brawler like Streets of Rage.

games are the only thing that looks appealing to me about the iphone but that $30 dollar a month data plan that at&t charges every month just to have one is not appealing, and i already have an at&t plan, maybe i should just get a touch. oh and i love streets of rage.

@slayer: I have an iTouch. It's free to use. :3 Unfortunately I still have OS2.2 as I jailbroke my Touch, and some games are now requiring OS3.0...which I don't wanna shell out $10 on and mess up my jailbreak.

I don't like doing emulated games on the iTouch for some reason. I like having actual buttons that you feel, you know? Virtual pads feel so weird because there's nothing to feel. =\

From what I've seen, this is a fucking horrible port and the emulator Sega use for their games is dogshit.

For a minute, I thought "Punk-asses beware." was part of the title screen. : )~
