The independent game developers at
Bombergames have released their re-imagining of the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive classic,
Streets of Rage.
Streets of Rage Remake for Windows was built from the ground up to pay homage to the original series. There are dozens of reasons why any fan of old-school style beat 'em ups should stop reading this immediately and go download the game before Sega calls out the legal hounds. We're talking redrawn sprites; remixes of the original '90s cornball soundtrack; eight playable characters (with two secret
unlockables); customizable sprites; and more. You'll even notice multiple
unlockables, including a two-player volleyball mode.
I would have alerted everyone to this sooner, but I just spent and hour and forty-five minutes of my day sucker-punching punks, kangaroos, and dudes on jet packs. The team has done a tremendous job bringing this project to life and with classic gameplay like this, plus a slew of unlockables, don't be surprised if you find this on a few of the Destructoid team's upcoming Games of the Week. It sure as hell
beats Urban Champion ... and it's $5 cheaper.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go eat an entire cooked turkey I found inside of this wooden crate I rabbit punched earlier; I'm feeling a bit under the weather.
sounds good * downloads*
YAY!
I have a lot of good memories about this game. I used to play it on genesis with a guy who had formally been a hobo riding the rails for 20 years. Now he's living off the gov't and anti-psychotic meds. Good times.
jesus christ...the new year starts of great.
That is hawt!
Theres an bug on stage 2
begining
if you fall over the building and die then when you come back to life you will be stuck in the air next to the building
theres no way to get out of this
I even tried puting an 2nd player
Wario67:
I'd imagine there would be bugs -- I don't think this is "final." For the record, I didn't get stuck anywhere, but I definitely was thrown off of that God damned elevator three or four times.
has anyone tried using the xbox360 controller yet?
I've been using a PSX Dual Shock connected to my PC with an adapter. Works fine. I don't see why the 360 controller wouldn't work, although I've never used one on a PC.
This soundtrack is fucking sick!
This gameplay is still fucking sick!
Kickboxing kangaroos are fucking sick!
Awesome, downloading now.
That game brings back memories freaking skate was the shit!
Terrible static in the audio. My system is tops and squeaky clean. I guess it hates audigy cards.
no fucking way, streets of rage 2 was my favorite game *downloads*
I only had the demo version before. Downloading the full version now.
takes time to load but this is the Shiz
SEGA won't give two shits about it. There's been Sonic fangames been made for years and years and they haven't shut anything down yet, I've a nice feeling that SoR:R is safe.

i cant seem to use my game pad on streets of rage also how do you save a game
you cant save whenever you want to. you have to edit a sprite, profile, or even unlock something for it to save. it save automatically anyway. it saves your play time.
i see you guys liked the way we did the game. i helped edit th 4th bgm. i hope you liked it. i used the normal song and choanged the tone of some of the tunes. i also added a few beats. i swear everytime i listen to it at night i think of lily martin. i used fruity loops 7 demo to do this.
i also helped with other things like stage animation and passageways.
