Streets of Rage 2 hits iOS today photo

On the downside, Streets of Rage Remake is no longer available to download for free. On the upside, SEGA is going to sell you a Streets of Rage 2 port for $2.99. I'd say that Streets of Rage fans totally walked away with a "win" this time!

Yep, Streets of Rage 2 has joined its prequel on the App store, available for your iOS device of choice from today onwards. You can buy it and think about how awesome it'd be if that Remake was officially available, or if SEGA would keep the IP alive with more than just ports.

Not that I'm a bitter Streets of Rage fan or anything ...

It was on the internet, which means if you look hard enough, you will find it. Fortunitly after reading the original post about SORHD I nabbed that up as quick as possible.

"On the downside, Streets of Rage Remake is no longer available to download for free."

--Or at least, not as ~readily~ available to download for free. ;) Thank you, The Internet! In the old days I'd have had to pop down to the black market.

I really hope these kind of games get iCADE support in the future. That would be awesome.

You know what makes this even more stupid? I just bought this port knowing that Sega's Genesis emulation is TERRIBLE, and guess what? This port is terrible. I mean the music and sound fx are strange and sound like I am hearing it from outside of car with full bass. The framerate is terrible, and it's almost impossible to properly do back attacks unless you change your finger placement. Sega is SO FREAKING LAZY, I mean c'mon I had computers in 1995 that could run all these Sega Genesis games PERFECTLY, but you're telling me the iPhone that is more powerful than ALOT of computers can't emulate a games from a system that was released in 1989?!!! Seriously Sega, growing up I was such a Sega Fanboy, but you guys are seriously starting to lose me with all this shit. The only good thing I played from you guys recently was Sonic 4 and the Yakuza series. I might maybe add in Virtua Tennis. I'm not counting titles you had nothing to do with and you just published like Bayonetta and the such. UGH, I'm going back to playing Streets of Rage Remake.

I bought the first iOS Streets of Rage on sale for a buck and it wasn't worth it. No fun w touch controls. SOR remake is the chicken nuggets.

You know, this past weekend I hooked my laptop up to my TV, plugged my PS3 controller into it, and played Streets of Rage Remake for HOURS Saturday morning while eating a bowl of cereal.

That was the point that I realized that much nostalgia and joy was illegal and the game would most definitely be ripped down by Sega. Sure enough it was. Was it jealousy (sega would be hard pressed to make a SoR game as good as SoRR) or just legal dickery? either way, it was a lame move.

Whatever, I still have it, and I'm still going to play it.

"I'd say that Streets of Rage fans totally walked away with a "win" this time!"

You would say that. But you would be a douche bag if you did. This good news (and it is good news) does NOT in any way make up for the takedown of the fan version. I'd post a link to my copy of it but my comment would end up being deleted. Needless to say, it is a hell of a lot better than paying 3$ for a 15 year old game on your cellphone.

Ah, so that's why Sega killed SOR Remake - so they could continue to milk the same old Genesis versions the same way they've done ever since they retired the Genesis.

I mean, God damn, it wouldn't be so bad if you'd take a break and milk another library every now and then, like the far superior Saturn library. The fact that I live in a world where most people have never even heard of Guardian Heroes, Dungeons & Dragons Collection, Three Dirty Dwarves and Die Hard Arcade (just to mention the beat 'em ups - God knows there was plenty more) is proof that there is no justice in this world.

LOLZ! SEGA are the Great Comedians of gaming! Whatever crazy hijinx will they conjure up next? how's about something good like, getting Sumo Digital to put Axel, Gillius, Vectorman, Joe Mushashi, Toejam & Earl and the bloke from Space Harrier in Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing as DLC. Now that would be hilarious!
