There's an absurd amount of titles coming out this year anyway.
SKULLGIRLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs
I'd say so. This is essentially an extension of Street Fighter IV, which was already a good entry point regardless (if a little bland). The difference here is character wise, you could go exclusively Tekken and still enjoy yourself, because there are so many fighters included (even on the 360 version sans Vita or PS3 DLC).
Just keep in mind that it's still a 2D fighter, and Capcom as a whole is not as technical as say Tekken or Virtua Fighter. You may still not like the engine.
Also, love your avatar.
I think my issue is increasingly less with the DLC and the re-releases and the Mega Manz. Honestly, it's starting to feel very uninspired. ...like every fighting game of Capcom's since SFIV is just a repackaged SFIV, even ignoring the straight-up rereleases (SSFIV, SSFIV: AE, phone ports, PC ports).
TvC, the first adaptation, is arguably the most distinct. The single player options were significant. Even if a lot of the minigames were terrible or poorly thought through, at least there was an attempt with this game. At least it has some things that are its own. It also had a simplified control scheme, but it was more understandable on the Wii. Most people don't even have Wii controllers capable of advanced fighting inputs. The game also had the "big" characters that teams unto themselves, and a few other unique elements.
Still, at the end of the day, TvC had the same move inputs, the same logic, the same perspective, and the same tendencies as SFIV.
MvC3, if anything, was even more shameless. Single player was a joke. The campaign could barely even qualify as barebones. Meanwhile, it seemed, if anything, less different than SFIV than TvC did. When I bought MvC3 (40 bucks on sale, but about a week after release), I quickly grew bored with it. I tried to figure out what, and, honestly, I think the lack of unique content turned me off. It felt like something I had played before.
UMvC3 pissed me off, but I'm over it. I'd probably buy it for a really cheap price (maybe 10 or so bucks), but, otherwise, I don't really care. I'm over it. It's just another rerelease of a repackaging of a re-release of a re-release of a game that actively emulated the style of a 20 year old arcade classic.
And now there's this. I was hoping that, with the Tekken elements, we might see some change. The combos might be mixed, or there might be some hybrid fighting styles. Instead.. it's another re-packaging of SFIV.
In that context, the simplified control scheme and the lack of SP feel like a deathblow to me. I just don't know how people are still okay with this.

Let's do a little math here, let's say each character cost 400 ms points to use that as a base, multiply that by 14, that's 5600 ms points.
You know how much that is in real money? 70 dollars.
SEVENTY FUCKING DOLLARS.
That's more than the game itself. You would think after ultimate marvel 3 people would have learned to just wait for the inevitable 2nd release by I guess that Capcom cock taste delicious.
I would say speak with your money but it seems a lot of people are, and they are saying yes to shitty business practices. As the old saying goes, a fool and his money are soon parted.
I'm haven't played SF since SSFII on SNES, but I'll be picking this up just to support the ballsy venture between Namcom and Capcom.
If SNK hadn't lost their minds in the last decade I could have hoped for CVS3, but that's a pipe dream. There's always a next gen Guilty Gear I suppose.
I challenge you to play any above average SF players and win simply because it's "simple". There's a lot of difference between 3D and 2D fighters and each have their merits. I don't care if you don't like SF or other 2D fighters but they have plenty of depth.
Okay then, thanks. I don't see the change to 2D being much of an issue for me, and this goes for the simplified movesets as well, so it should be interesting to go nuts as good old Heihachi or Paul in a completely different environment, before eventually trying out some of the Street Fighter classics. In any case, I'll keep an eye on this one. :)
As for my avatar, it's actually a pretty random choice. Sort of a response to the popular choice of cartoon character avatars around here.
Here, the Xbox 360 version will have *14* characters eventually unlocked through DLC keys. On top of that, there are the pre-order gem offers, and the rumors of DLC gem packs. (And, at least by the original gem lists, some of the pre-order gems are flat-out stronger than other gems. Not a matter of level or activation conditions, but rather having identical conditions to another gem while lacking that other gem's drawback.)
And this *is* Capcom, the company that chose to sell additional color palettes as DLC for SF3:OE, and have pretty much openly admitted that they are experimenting to see just how much money they can make through DLC, and what they can sell as DLC.
i want all of my content on disc and unlocked and ready to go :P
plus DOA5, VF5(still want a retail disc to make it perfect), and Tekken Tag 2 are all coming out this year!!!
so yeah fuck off capcom.
such a shame i was planning on buying this(my local store had this game a week ago) with SFIV, MVC3 and even RE5(despite loving the game; didn't not enjoy on disc dlc, versus mode?)
probably the only game im planning to get them is RE6, even then they might make a "Gold" edition which worries me.
Asuara's Wrath and Dragon's Dogma will have to wait for price drop. too many games i still need to get.
Operation Raccoon City is the same as above. i was also planning to get this day 1 then with the BS Nemesis DLC.
yeah not gonna bend to capcom or anyone that does this shit.
I feel bad for the 360-crowd though who cant play with a friend on the same console online as tagmates and dont get to play as any of the 6 console exclusive chars for PS3.
If Capcom is gonna keep its promise that they are not gonna release another version of this game on disc remains to be seen but either way this game is to good to pass up on.
Guess the 360-version deserves a 8 while the PS3-version in this case deserves a 9. Just my opinion though.
