Street Fighter movie cast, none seem like fighters photo

We already knew that the lovely Kristen Kreuk would be playing Chun-li in the upcoming Street Fighter movie. She's a looker, but she's lacking the massive, head-crushing thunder thighs that the in-game Chunny flaunts. I'd call her casting a "miss," and it looks like some other potential misses have been announced.

Videogamer tells us that Capcom has confirmed the cast for its 2009 feature. New announcements include Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog, Neal McDonough as M. Bison, and Chris Klein as Charlie Nash. Oh, and Taboo of Black Eyed Peas as Vega. What the hell?

I get Duncan as Balrog... for his looks. But he seems like too nice of a guy for a convincing badass. I didn't know who McDonough was, but it looks like he'd make a better Anderson Cooper than a M. Bison. Klein as Nash? Fair enough. But Taboo as Vega? Not so much. Finally, Andrzej Bartkowiak (Doom, Cradle 2 the Grave, Romeo Must Die) will direct.

My biggest problem with this cast? None of them seem like the fighting type. What do you think?

Chris Klein as Nash can be pulled off I guess but the rest are just such shitty casting choices. Bison is supposed to be a large, intimidating tyrant type not some weasle looking thug. And Taboo as Vega? You got to be kidding me?

Well first off, Michael Duncan Clark is a regular (or at least was) at pretty much every UFC event. Maybe he doesn't seem like a fighter, but I think he knows enough about it.

Also, being able to play a roll is the whole idea behind acting. Ever seen a serial killer movie? I don't think the actors in those movies could really pass as serial killers, but they're just playing a roll.

Was there really any hope for this project to begin with? I mean, at this point, isn't it just a given it's going to suck, no matter who gets cast?

Well Taboo IS Filipino so it sort of makes sense. The Vega from the original movie was 10x a better choice though. Michael Clark Duncan would make a good Balrog (he did play a bad-ass in Daredevil & Sin City) but it seems like such a minor character for him to be playing. Neil McDonaugh is a horrible choice for M. Bison. Kristin Kreuk will be hot as Chun Li, but she is a little petit for the role. Maybe she can get prosthetic thighs or something.

Yeah. This movie is going to suck.

Although apparently Michael Clarke Duncan only holds a blue belt in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, I still wouldn't want him to hit me.
That's right, pussy, keep walkin -- Holy shit!!! Bail! Bail!!!

Well, I guess being actors, they'll have to act like they can fight. Then there's training or stunt doubles and all that.

Yeah, it'll probably suck

wow...I completely understood Chun-li as Kreuk...but the rest of the cast...I agree 100% in saying that these people do not look like they would want to enter a fight. Thats why when everyone was shouting Zhang ZiYi or whatever I could understand because she looked like she would actually fight somebody.

also is somebody gonna give Michael a wig...because this is the first time I've seen him cast in a role where he would need hair.

You guys are aware that to have an accurate Chun-Li, you'd need to edit the upper body of a young woman on to the lower body of an old woman, right?

True. True. I can go along with Kristin Kreuk as a young Chun Li. It works for me.

Duncan was cast as Balrog weeks ago. I think Klein was, too. So, not a lot of news here, actually. McDonough is interesting, though. I remember him best as Lt. Hawk (?) from Star Trek First Contact, the crew member who got Borgified on the deflector dish. He's better suited than Raul Julia, at least.

Even though M.C. Duncan is a teddy bear (and one of my favorite celebrities), that dude could beat the fuck out of you if he wished. He's cool with me.

As for the others... Kreuk isn't what I envisioned for Chun-Li by a longshot. And unless they put her through one hell hell of a leg workout program, her legs will be epic fail.

Vega? *looks at Taboo's profile* Uh, isn't Vega supposed to be beautiful and bishounen?

That right there tells me this will most likely be a huge failure. He's the type of director who fails so bad that this is the only type of film offered to him. And what does he care, so long as he's getting payed? This is going to suck.

This is gonna be ugly. I thought I was sad when they didn't cast Clive Owen as Gambit in any of the x-men movies, now this? The only thing that can make me feel better about this movie will be to see some badass fighters recruited. I'm talking Steven Seagal as Akuma and Chuck Norris as Blanka. Oh and bring Bruce Lee back from the dead to play Fei Long.

I'm with everyone else here... Ving Rhames or even Ice Cube would be much better for the part of Balrog. As for everyone else casted, I haven't seen them act in anything. Although I have seen McDounough in commercials for TV shows that never looked interesting enough for me to watch.

My picks would be

Balrog - Kimbo, i think he would be very convincing.... and if Kimbo wouldn't do it, why not pull Mr. T out of retirement.
M. Bison - Christopher Lee, whenever I think evil; I think Christopher Lee. Plus he was a pretty badass Count Dooku
Chun Li - Maggie Q, she was great in the new Die Hard
Charlie Nash - Milo Ventrimiglia, who better than Peter Petrelli?
Vega - gotta be a Spaniard and the only one I can think of is either Antonio Banderas or Anthony Quin - I pick Anthony Quin

kevkev: There is no way that they're going to appropriately convey the musculature of the DB characters in a live action movie. They may as well just hire a bunch of bodybuilders, force feed them a bucket full of LSD, and release them into a field and we would have a better Dragonball movie than anything they're going to come up with.
