Street Fighter IV premium theme quietly tip-toes onto Xbox LIVE photo

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring ... except Capcom, who snuck a Street Fighter IV Premium Theme onto Xbox LIVE!

The 250 MS Points theme was made available on December 24, just in time for the holidays. Now I want Street Fighter IV just as much as the next gamer; I've had quite enough of playing it at crowded industry events or stinky arcades ... bring it home already, Capcom!

But after reading about the Street Fighter IV theme's released on Tilted Screen, something possessed me to fire up my console and then spend 250 MS Points on it. I have never purchased a theme in my life, and have even publicly thrown stones at anyone who has. But there I was, spending $3.12, and for what?

Not much, actually -- there's some fancy Street Fighter-themed backgrounds when viewing your friends list, and there's some "wallpapers" that are mostly obscured by NXE menus. So is this thing worth three bucks? Nah, probably not. But are there really any premium themes worth the dough? Have you spend money on any themes and felt satisfied with your purchase?

Being the street fighter tool I am, I will probably buy this.

All I can say is thanks for previewing the Theme for me. That's something Microsoft would never do for me haha.

I bought the HD Remix theme, and it's a little underwhelming. I'm pretty much stuck with looking at Sagat's stage all day. I wish the images would cycle or something.

I didn't notice if it changed the shit that's behind each one of my friends, though. Is that the difference between a regular theme and a premium one?

Also, regarding themes, pretty much all of the themes from the original 360 dashboard have been nerfed, so none of them are worth any money (if they ever were). I will probably never purchase a theme, but if I did, it'd have to be made specifically for the NXE. Personally, I prefer the already-on-the-console "Night" theme, because it changes the objects behind your friends from the shiny XBox paraphernalia to much darker street objects. Plus I've always kept my dashboard darker toned, so it works for that too.

I'm also a Street Fighter tool, so I'll definitely buy this. Feel free to insult/flame me, because I truly deserve it.

I bought the Castle Crashers premium theme, and I think it was worth the 250 points. You can see the wallpapers, and the friends list platforms are fun (loot, animals, etc.).

I bought the castle crashers theme, but I may be switching over to this one.

I never bought the old themes, but these I can dig.

I'll probably buy it - my castle crashers theme looks good, but it's not very well integrated with the new layout.

The Castle Crashers theme is really nice, but the Banjo-Kazooie theme is just pure fucking awesome. I've got a few Gears 2 themes they were giving away free through various promotions too, but come on, Banjo-Kazooie wins over that.

Please people. Stop buying themes. Please. It's like paying for desktop wallpapers. Come on. Really.

Gemma Adkinson! Best. Theme. Ever. (before NXE - now all the interesting parts are blocked).

Not worth it unless you have an odd amount of MS points left over after buying something worthwhile. The "Night" theme is actually kind of badass, so I'll stick with that for the moment.

I got the Rock Band 2 theme, which is alright. Good thing I really like the aesthetic of Rock Band in general, cause it's pretty simple.

LOL the rockband theme? who are you kidding? that shits terrible. just a wall of amps behind everyone on your friend list.

all the premium avatars are are little scenes behind your friends. old themes are worthless now, as the image is skewed and blocked by the new nxe stuff.

which blows my fucking MIND seeing as microsoft is still scamming people the fuck out of their money by continuing to sell OLD THEMES THAT DONT WORK ANYMORE.

also i will buy the sf4 theme.

I bought the Fable 2 theme, and it is pretty cool. My wife wanted the Viva Pinata one, and I was actually a little disappointed, considering the color and style of the Viva Pinata world itself. The background is actually kind of bland and the friend backgrounds are just "meh".

I was hoping this was free :(

The only theme I'll ever pay money for is the Beautiful Katamari theme...who cares if Beautiful sucked....Katamari is awesome
