Street Fighter IV PC will require a PC, also a video card photo
This just in: PC requirements are bananas. Capcom recently released the minimum and maximum specs that you need to have in order to fully enjoy Street Fighter IV. They seem particularly beefy to me, mainly because I don’t believe my actual PC could rock anything nastier than Quest for Glory III. (And, hell, even that stutters.)

Minimum

OS: Windows XP
CPU: Intel Pentium4 2.0GHz or higher
RAM: 1GB or higher
HDD: 10GB of free space or more
Video Card: DirectX 9.0c/Shader3.0 or higher compatible, NVIDIA GeForce6600 series, ATI Radeon(TM) X1600 or higher or higher, VRAM :256MB or higher
Sound: DirectSound compatible, DirectX 9.0c (or higher) compatible
Input Devices: Mouse, Keyboard

Maximum

OS: Windows Vista
CPU: Intel Core2Duo 2.0GHz or higher
RAM: 2GB or higher
HDD: 10GB of free space or more
Video Card: DirectX 9.0c/Shader3.0 or higher compatible, NVIDIA GeForce8600 series or higher, ATI Radeon(TM) X 1900 or higher, VRAM :512MB or higher
Sound: DirectSound compatible, DirectX 9.0c (or higher) compatible
Input Devices: Gamepad Xbox360 Controller for Windows

I’m trying to imagine a world with an IntelCore2Duo. I bet with one of those babes in-between my legs (in a rig, of course) I could totally open two tabs in Firefox. I even bet I could open Peggle and Microsoft Word at the same time.

Oh, right, Street Fighter IV. So, are guys feeling this? Do you have all the necessary junk to rock it out?

um... my macbook runs on a core2duo and works great. i frequently have 6-10 programs running, at least 2 being fairly resource intensive, with no noticeable problems. It'd be running Vista that I'd expect to be a problem.

Doesn't seem particularly nuts to me. My computer is about mid range and has that easy

"Maximum" is an 8600?

Well there's 90% of PC gamers out.

Not bad... C2D is pretty old tech now, you can build a box that can handle this for pretty cheap nowadays. PC's will always be a bit more expensive than consoles, but PC's are also awesome and do a lot more than playing games so I always figured it was worth it.

Aside from the install size, those are pretty mediocre requirements.

My comp can handle it. But can I stomach playing it with a 360 dpad? That's another question entirely.

Holy fuck, 10gb? Christ, I have mmorpgs that take up less space than that. What are they packing inside?

They really called the upper end "Maximum"? Those would be the recommended specs.

Also the minimum specs are just about the same as XNA - even my beta requires that level of graphics chip.

Wait, there's a maximum requirements? So if my PC is better than the maximum I'm out of luck.

crap I was hoping to play it on a desk with no PC but just a video card ;)

Those system requirements are NOT bad at all. Any PC from the last two years could run it.

I'd imagine my desktop could run it without much in the way of issues. 2.1ghz AMD dual core, 4GB of RAM (3.8 if you wanna get nitpicky) and a 256mb PCIe Geforce 8600GT OC. I'm sure the extra RAM would help compensate for what I'm missing on the video card. I'm too lazy and poor to upgrade my power supply to get anything better than what I've got in there. :)

This reminds me of when they ported Street Fighter 2 for the Amiga. Sure you can play it on your computer, but why would you want to? Call me old fashioned, but strategy games and FPSes on the PC and beatemups and side scrolling shooters on the console. It's science.

those requirements are actually fairly low for any up to date PC gamer.

hehe I don't consider my shit bragging. All I did was add another 2 gig of RAM and the video card to a Dell Inspiron 531. :P

Fuck, my main machine is an Acer Aspire One 8.9" netbook. If I get SF4 for the PC I'm gonna install it on this just to see if it even TRIES to run.

Chronic Logic: There's two sets of voices (English and Japanese) for all characters, as well as animated intros and endings in arcade mode. That's a lot of data.

I bought a rig over the max requirements over 2 years ago. You can probably build that rig now for ~$500. Still more expensive than a console but it's a PC, so the [s]games are free[/s] digital distribution platforms are the most mature.

@Cyber Altair If they don't release a demo, just pirate it if you don't think your card can handle it at a decent rate. If it runs good, you know it's more than likely gonna be cheaper than the console releases buy it ... and even if not ... stick with the 360 or PS3, whichever console you own. Me personally, I stick with the PC versions ... even if I can't run them as good as the console ports. But that mainly stems from my buying Left 4 Dead on the 360 for 60 fuckin' bucks, selling it out of dire need or money and buying it for the PC for 30 and having more fun. But that's neither here nor there considering they're two entirely different games.

I was just joking, my time isn't worth games I wouldn't spend money on. But it's not piracy that's killing PC gaming, it's consoles.

How come we can't use [s]strikethrough[/s]?

I agree with Wookiee.
Japanese-made PC games are always fucking HUEG for some reason, though. MGS2 takes up 7 GB and that came out years ago. Silent Hill 2 and 3 are nearly as big.

Maybe because some of us don't have consoles? Just sayin'. :)

I personally prefer to wait and have content for the PC rather than get a console, just my philosophy of how this whole thing should work. I'll agree that a controller/fightpad is far better as input for it, though.

The hard drive requirements don't seem outrageous. Most current PC games requires around that much, and MMOs take up even more space than that, so its not that much of a stretch.
