Street Fighter Alpha most popular downloadable PSN game photo

I love being able to download PS1 titles on PSN, and I wish that the list of available games was longer, but I'm certainly not complaining about what we've gotten so far. Some of my favorite titles are already available, including Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Silent Hill. In a recent exclusive on Gamasutra, they asked Sony about the most popular downloadable PS1 titles and got the following list in return:

1. Street Fighter Alpha

2. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

3. Crash Bandicoot

4.  Twisted Metal 2

5. Spyro The Dragon

6. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped

7. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

8. Wild Arms

9. MediEvil

10. Hot Shots Golf 2

Oh, there's some classics in there! Looks like people still miss Crash Bandicoot. Not that I can blame them, as the first two Crash title were some of my favorite PS1 games. No more titles have been announced for 2009 yet, but Sony says they are coming. I would really like the original Parasite Eve, but I don't expect to see that one anytime soon. Which PS1 games would you like to see on PSN in the future?

Is Street Fighter Alpha the arcade or PS2 port and does it have online?

Is Silent Hill on the PSN already? I wasn't aware of that.

I could go for some Dino Crisis. I've run out of Resident Evil games to play, and my local retro gaming joint wants too much for'em.

@Cynical G,
It's the PS1 port.

@ran24,
I was thinking the same thing. I'm booting up my PS3 as I type to see so I can download it.

And it's not. That's quite weird. I wonder if it's available in another territory, and this is a worldwide list.

How about Final Fantasty Tactics? Wild 9? Fear Effect?

It's a puzzle to me why there aren't more games on PSN's "virtual console". I guess the lack of support goes in line with Sony's philosophy against "looking backwards", but in the end it only serves to give me less to do with my PS3.

Dhalsim wasn't in SF Alpha. What's up with that picture?

That's an Alpha 2 picture. It makes for good encouragement to bring out Alpha 2 as well.

Silent Hill was launch through the PSN in Europe last week, I believe. I do want it to come here, so I can compare it with the upcoming Wii reimagination.

Alpha 3 needed, and needed with no lag unlike Street Fighter 4

Yeah, I foolishly downloaded Street Fighter Alpha thinking it was a different game in the Alpha series and was sorely, SORELY disappointed with the purchase. It's mostly my fault, I admit, but is it common for ports like this one to be just as slow-loading (despite the change in hardware) as they were when they first came out?

I NOT emulated Street Fighter Alpha 2, and it's been really freaking awesome, Ken in that game is my man.

But I second the Final Fantasy 7-9, HARD.

FF VII-IX, FF Tactics, Metal Gear Solid, Chrono Cross, Tekken 3

Albeit I already have FF VII-IX and MGS, but those other ones would really kick ass.

Final Fantasy VII, though I would much prefer it to get a makeover a la Resident Evil on Gamecube.

Considering the PS2 Alpha Anthology is pretty easy to find and has an arcade perfect (or close enough to fool all but the most hardcore) version of Street Fighter Alpha, this confounds me. I guess most people don't care about the other Alpha games, or not enough to spend the extra money to get them all in one go.

I used to be a huge PS fanboy. But I chose the 360 over the PS3. These classic titles make me very jealous since I was a former owner of all these games. SF Alpha...do want ;_;
