Quantcast

The above video is footage from an unnamed Midway shooter that has sadly been canceled. It's pretty much the exact same game as the decent-but-repetitive Stranglehold, except instead of Asian gangsters, you get to shoot zombies and monsters.

It's merely prototype footage, hence the rough and rather quiet atmosphere, but it looks like it could have been interesting. The first five minutes of Stranglehold were awesome, but the game fell short when it was stretched quite thinly over several hours. With huge boss battles and enemy variety as seen in this clip, perhaps the zombie/monster element could have changed that.

We'll never know, however, because this game is toast. Ah well.

The style of this game reminds me of their games on the N64. I don't know why at all, but maybe it's a good thing it was canceled.

Midway. Eww... Still the idea of Max Payne style gameplay + zombies does excite me.

Also I know what you mean about stranglehold. The later levels weren't levels at all. They were just rooms where waves of enemies came at you. I'd recommend playing the demo 10 times rather than the game itself.

The lack of watermelons is the reason why it was really canceled.

I don't think this looks that bad. Could be an alright game with some work and polish. Too bad they can't afford to fund this project.

Looks like a crap third person shooter to me, starring some guy who made some cardboard cosplay Dead Space armour to take on scenarios that look like a bunch of other games I already played.

If this is garbage is all Midway could get its hands on it's no surprise they went for a sail up shit creek.

The idea behind it is cool enough.

This is what makes me mad, when a game gets the axe and never get a chance to try it, why can't the just release the prototype on live for like free or like 160 points and then I get a chance to play it and they get some sort of money for it.

Good grief. The zombie thing is getting out of hand. If this sudden fad/fascination with zombies keeps up, we're going to be getting zombie games equivalent to Return of the Living Dead:Rave to the Grave.. O_o

No thanks! I'll stick to RE5 which reminds me of Night of the Creeps.

The zombie thing has been pretty played out lately... we need a new thing to kill. I suggest rabid babies--thousands and thousands of rabid babies, swarming like bloodthirsty african killer bees. It doesn't have to be limited to just babies, there can be toddlers in there too. The could all scream in their shrill, high pitched baby voices. It would be pretty frightening.

Awww, damn it! I hate canceled game news. Frustrating to read about what could have been but we'll never know.

I really had a lot of fun with Stranglehold, but I'm also big fan of asian bullet ballet cinema, so whatever. Mixing in zombies to the formula would have been awesome, I think. Maybe they didn't think they could stand up to the zombie game competition.

Too bad, such good potential we'll never be able to fully judge.
